OK, here's the deal... the factory apparently installed the wrong part (electric seat side control panel without mem keys) even though the car has the proper option code on the build sheet. We've cross-checked other cars on the same shipment, they all have the buttons - and I've got a confirmation from BMWCA customer service that the car should have the buttons. Dealer will be contacting BMWCA about this and will retrofit the option in my car. All is well!
The computerized memory part is already in the car as the seat moves depending on which profile/key is used to unlock the car. All that is missing is the control panel with the buttons, so I believe it'll be a simple plug-and-play job.

Odd - you have M badges & I don't... then again I'm not surprised, I don't have memory buttons on my driver's seat

I was surprised about the badges as well. I though they where only for the Performance pkg. I think the germans are still getting to grips with shipping diesel wagons overseas.

I think the ///M badges on the fenders represent the MSport Line. I think that a sport line car has a badge identifying it as such unless there is a line badging delete option selected.
Great looking cars f31mtl and shag. What are you doing for winter wheel/tire sets?

Thank you Sir. I'm still thinking of what to get for the winter. Either 17 inch wheel and tire combo or just some 18" run flats. I was at my local tore dealer yesterday actually and he had nothing good to say about the pirelli sotto tires saying that they where out fast... not many options in the run flat 18s....

haven't seen that specific part online yet. in theory it's just a swap if the software can handle it already.
i think it's just odd that our early 2014 didn't include it |

Yeah, lots of people where pissed about that, it was a running change for 2014 model year. Since diesel cars came later they seem to all have the touch wheel.

The touch iPad controller was updated at the same time the sedan was switched from a 2013 to a 2014 build. I think it was July 2013 production forward that the change commenced.
I'm not sure it is a part change out or if the harness itself has changed.

I'll keep the stock rims for winter. Ordered a set of RFT Sottozeros... not much choice out there for our cars. I don't like aftermarket winter wheels - I'd rather keep my OEMs. BTW, Pirellis have the added advantage of having a limited road hazard warranty (not as good as BMW's insurance but good enough for me). And yes, I have the touchpad controller - nifty but not a deal breaker. Useful when one scrolls through the map.

I purchased the Sottozeros for my winter set up. So far, two good snow storms here and they have performed well. Noisy compared to my summers but that is to be expected. I went for aftermarket rims for my 18" winters as I have the 19's on my summer set and DHP. Local dealer wanted close to $4k for an OEM 18" winter set.

My car is killing it in the recent dump here in Etown. The LM60s are great and going to dynamic traction mode gives a nice rear bias and the car really rolls.
The 328 engine is just a little powerhouse. |

An issue I have been going back and forth with BMWCA is the rear hatch operation. The product planning bulletin (attached) states clearly that the hatch can be operated (opening and closing) from the fob or the button inside the vehicle. I do not have this functionality and when asked was ultimately told by BMWCA that it would be part of a later production option.
To some of the recent F31 owners, F31mtl, shag, Sparkyg et al, do you have this functionality or is this another case of BMWCA promise and not deliver?

pretty sure you just have to hold the button on the remote. You probably have to be pretty close to the car and hold it for a second or two. I actually only use the handle on the hatch it self or the comfort access feature, that by way has worked 100% of the time.
Mine is like the top one in this image.

BMWCA says they have not enabled the rear hatch closing feature on the fobs (early production cars) and that it would be enabled "at some point in the future". The only way I can close the rear hatch when it is open is by pressing either the lock or close button on the hatch itself. The button in the footwell does not close the hatch on my car.
It's funny that a Toyota Highlander will close the hatch via a fob but BMW makes it a big deal.
