What size are your rear tires?

Hey all -

Currently own a F30 335i - not planning on replacing my shoes yet but was curious what size rear tires everyone was running. My M sport package came staggered. 235s in front / 255s in rear. Would potentially love to rock 275 or 285s in the back one day.

1. What size are your rear tires?

2. What is the widest tire you can run on an F30 without rubbing issues?

3. Do you have a squared or staggered setup? What are the pros and cons for each setup?

4. What are some solid tire brands you recommend and which we should stay away from?

Thanks!

1. 275/30-19

2. i have a 9.5" rear, i've seen some run a 10.5" at that point you are really doing it more for show and will have to add in some negative camber, tire stretch, and lowering springs to make it look right. most people run an 8.5" front but again you could go a bit wider with the right offset and suspension settings.

3. staggered setups are most common, most people would rather have a little more understeer as a safety net. but ideally for tracking you would want a squared setup for more neutral handling and the ability to rotate tires.

4. as far as tire brands go you can search tire rack. personally for any of my cars i dont use anything other than michelin.

1) I have the m sport 335i as well and am running 225s in the front and 255s in the rear. However, this is a little small for the 19'' wheels that come on the car (upgraded) as the lip of the wheel does touch the ground when you put the tire down. You could easily run a 265 rear tire and a 235 front tire on the 19s. However, I think 275 would be pushing it and 285 would definitely not work on the stock wheel.

2) I am planning on running a 235/265 setup on the stock wheels along with a 10 mm spacer up front and a 15 mm spacer in the rear and I will lower the car with H&R sport springs. This is because I really don't want to invest the extra 1500 bucks into new wheels. The setup that I plan on running would fit perfectly and you woudnt need to roll/pull the fenders at all. Therefore, a 245/275 setup would be fine for you with no spacers.

3) On the m sport 335i it is impossible to run a square setup because you can't fit anything above a 245 in the front, therefore, keep the staggered setup.

4) The top 3 tires in my opinion that are relatively budget friendly and aren't complete race tires are the Bridgestone potenza s04, Hankook ventus v12 evo2, and the Michelin Pilot SuperSports. The Supersports are the priciest but in my opinion, the Hankooks offer really good dry performance and are by far the best value out of all 3.

This will be my 4th summer on Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 245/40 18x8.5et35 and 275/35 18x9.5et43 with no issues. These tires are wide and extend 4-5mm past the lip of the wheel. If I remember correctly the rear is running about 1.3 degrees negative camber.

I, too, have an M sport (RWD for me) and was wondering - are you getting just the H&R Sport springs? Are you upgrading shocks as well? - is that necessary? I've heard that with our adaptive suspension, installing lowering springs could affect its current suspension specs. Is this true?

Yup, I'm only doing the springs. The adaptive suspension is not affected by lowering the car with just springs. It is when you get coilovers that you mess with the adaptive susp.
