I never understood why 840 Was not listed on the build order. My dealership contacted BMW of North America with no help. There was never even a response
You need to order the ?track package? in order to get the increased limiter.

I did order Track Handling Package, and it did not come with the increased top speed limiter.
My CA just told me that it might be put in when entering the US. We?ll see.

Increase a limiter is standard on the M sport package. These particular wheels do not have it listed on the order form which it gets deleted and is not programmed.

My car is a 2018 340i M sport with the adaptive suspension and these wheels. No where can I identify on my order the increase speed limit.

If the 21W wheels are removed this option shows up. For some reason it seems that these particular wheels remove the increased speed limiter. I never got an answer from BMW and it’s still not clear as to why that’s the case

The other available 19 inch wheels still allow increased speed limiter.

In addition, 21W Are actually a staggered set up which is not what is represented on the order forms

I just got a new 440i GC with 21W wheels, MSport and THP and I can see option 840 when I decode my VIN, so I'm pretty sure I got the increased top speed.

Additionally, the pricing/ordering guide for this wheel style says:

"In combination with ZMP
In combination with ZTR
21W will add 840 to the order"

Yes the 440 gets 840 with 21W wheels but it does appear to the case with the 340i

By the way what is it say under power for your car?

240, but that's standard for the B58 engine, I think.

I also noticed this on the 2018 340i ordering guide. I e-mailed BMW Genius and asked about it, and they said that the 704M 19" wheels (option 21W) wouldn’t add the increased speed limiter (option 840) to a 340i order, although they would on a 440i. But I also noticed that the ordering guide didn’t say anything about 840 being deleted from the order, either.

I placed my 340i order specifying both 21W and 840. Both happily made it to the vehicle inquiry report I got as confirmation. My car went into production (status 150) a couple of days ago, and my VIN now works in at least one of the online decoders, and it also shows both 21W and 840.

I won’t know for sure until the car’s here (and even then, I guess I won’t really know because I’m not planning on pushing past 130mi/h anytime soon) but it seems that anyone who wants the higher 155mi/h speed limiter could just order the car with option 840.

F30 end of production is nearing, so I’m not sure how helpful this will be, but it may be useful to someone who’s ordering a new car from the factory in the next several months.

Hi supermarket,

You should be fine. When my VIN became available, it did show 21W wheels but did not show 840 code, and I after I got the car and after the break in period, I unhappily confirmed it did not go beyond 130mph

After some time, my CA and BMW NA offered me $500 in accesories, which I used for getting the black kidneys and black carbon fiber mirror caps, which I installed myself.

Enjoy your new car!

I am sure your car will be programmed properly. All country specific SW for US is uploaded at port including maps in the nav.

Even if your car topped out at the 130mph mark, why would you ever need to go faster than that?
