Are one of the cables in the harness we disconnected an antenna to the fin? If so can I tap that for my MiFi that has antenna jacks?

Yes, I believe the black connector is the antenna. Not sure if it would improve your mifi much though.

Yeah but I think if I install the mifi hidden in the console a signal to the fin would be at least marginally better than using its internal antennae. But then again cellular technology is not my expertise by any means. I just thought it might be nice since the wire is already run etc.

The black braided coax cable is for the antenna.

Incase anyone is wondering, the process is just as simple on the MY2017 cars with the wireless charging cradle. Just ripped that POS out of my M3.

If anything, its easier, as there are only 2 cables instead of 3.

At first I was turned off by the lack of storage space, but now I'm beginning to love it because it forces me to keep the essentials only (glasses, phone, emergency glass hammer). It was embarrassing cleaning out my E92 console when I traded it in for the F32.

I was also one of the rare people who LOVED the dashboard cup holders in the E92. No sticky nasty mess of spare change and congealed soft drink to deal with - everything felt clean all the time. I even had a friend break one at one point but I still loved that design. I miss it.

I have been trying to figure out the same, plus looking at the LCI part, if it would fit into that space.

The more I think about this, the more I think I can come up with a better option that is less expensive.

Combine that rubber mat, but also with this wireless charger that can tap directly off the 12v of that outlet for the rear passengers!

Yah.. I see a plan coming together!

Wireless charger as well
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-inbay-pa...240000-03~iby/

I have been looking at the official charging pad that goes into that space, and while both my local dealerships say the LCI charging pad WILL NOT WORK, I have one reseller that says it will. Now that said, its $250+... well that cover plus the charging pad is $80!

My only question now is if there is enough room between that rubber cover and the base for the wireless pad to sit seamlessly.

picked up my 2017 340 build last week and should have ordered it with wireless charging. the usb isn't for charging and basically keeps whatever level the phone has and is used for data transfer. so charging it only done via the 12v cig light cable and that is messy and not nice and clean when i could have just dropped my samsung s7 into the wireless charger there securely and been done with it, nice and tidy.

so, if there is an option for adding wireless charging that is not too intrusive i'm all for it!!

So I bet in your case the wireless part that I listed a couple of posts above will work, though honestly way too damn expensive for what it is. You have to have the right options installed (apparently) for it to work, but I am also being told by a 3rd party vendor that it will work regardless. I think I am going to explore the cheaper option first, because $250+ for that part seems excessive even for BMW.

i think i will give it a go. so the above part you posted has the necessary harness/wiring with it as well? kind of hard to tell what they are selling. additionally, your vendors are saying that there is a harness in there i guess and it should be PnP? i think i am going to take my mat out and see if there is a pigtail or harness connector hanging out in there first.

do keep me posted on your progress with the other alternative. i wouldn't mind paying the $250 if i find the connector and that it is hot and i can implement a completely OEM solution.

so for my 340ix i found these pages on realoem.

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=84_1038

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=84_0887

i think the latter is for car phone use and the one i need is the former. so part number 84106840126?

also saw that a few dealers and ECS has them under $200 which is a nice bonus.

you have the wireless charging pad? I would be interested if you take it out. I am looking at maybe retrofitting that into my 14 f32

ah ok.. I understand, would have taken it off your hands if it's the same part. Shoot me a PM if you change your mind.

side note.. this is the plate undwer the arm rest right? it has the sliding plate to provide tension to keep the phone in place? If so, could you do me a favor? Could you please measure the maximum length of space? I don't know if my Samsung S8+ will fit.

A "naked" iPhone 7 Plus almost fits. There is like a quarter inch missing. The slider doesn't slide all the way back.
