Are the sport display numbers for hp and tq crank or wheel numbers

I have 2017 BMW 340i xdrive and I was just wondering if the hp and tq numbers are crank or wheel numbers. The reason asking is because I only saw about 335lbft of tq. and with a 6MT it should be at a unfortunately limited 355tq. If this has been discussed I apologize

yeah it's 100% crank. HP to the wheels is usually around 65-80% of that number.

But, as we all know BMW tends to under advertise it's HP, so 335i / 435i have been tested at up to 280HP to the rear wheels...which is a lot

It's preset to rpm, so mods will not change the numbers.

It's a little smarter than just rpm. It's at least taking throttle position into account as well.

do people really think it's an actual gauge of power? i have always thought it was the most gimmicky addition to idrive. they should have put some useful gauges like boost pressure or water temp.

That would be a lot more useful. Or to be able to customize and pick a set. I've never had them before so I don't know if they are true readings or not.

I agree that bmw underestimates, but if your numbers are correct, then 280 to the wheels would mean about 400 to the crank. I find that hard to believe, butt dyno-wise.
