If you really can't use the lightning cable currently you'd still be best to code EBT if possible as it will enable you to browse your music library on the idrive/steering wheel controls, the y cable will only enable you to do skip track or back a track. Also EBT will give you bluetooth music streaming if you don't already have that.

Ok, so on the F34, the OBD connection for coding is underneath the dashboard on the drivers side, really easy to get to.

What next then for coding, do i do it myself, or find someone local to do it for me?

I read somewhere that ebt is now bundled with the business nav as standard. It wasn't about a year ago.

Ok, so my Apple iPhone Lightening lead wouldn't allow the phone to be seen by the car so couldn't play music it from it. Bought a £3.95 Belkin lightening cable from eBay to use just for charging, and to my amazement it allows the phone to connect, can play music and shows all artwork. Result!

Have you got EBT? Or standard BT?

Link to cable purchased if standard BT, as this would serve till I can get my car coded.

No worries. For £3.95, it's worth buying one just to see if it works on yours
