It's a functional mod, nothing poser about it.

Hi Steve.
I am now ordered all parts (you listed). But how to fix this part into the body:
Fillister head screw M10 (alloy SB - edge) 34Nm 2EA : 07147162464
Blind rivet nut, flat headed 2EA : 51718065070
I tried to put the rivet nut 51718065070 into the hole but it loosened (the hole just fitted but not tight enough to hold the bolt). All the parts I check correct part number. Please instruct me how to fit those bolts into the frame? Thank you!

Hi Steve

Did you consider retrofitting the f8x structural reinforcement plate ?

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...l/31102284631/

I ask as I see from realoem that this plate fits the m235i racing which uses the f2x/f3x front subframe.

Hi Steve

Could you take a picture of the middle attachment points of the tension struts? They don't seem to match a corresponding hole in my f30 subframe, but i don't understand how it's supposed to look on an f32, i looked for pictures with google but still see no difference.

Thx!

Of course it does something. It's limiting body twist. If you had both the carbon piece and the alloy cross brace in hand, it would be quite obvious. The stock cross brace on the F3x is a bandaid on a gapping wound in comparison to this setup for vehicles that are tracked.

Further, if you do track your car, and you have a chance to look at the underside of your fender where the the strut tower attaches, I think people would be shocked. Excuse the pun. Stage 5, or probably when the strut bearings are replaced, Would be some kind of reinforcement for the underside of the tower. I think I saw something of that nature on Turner Motorsports webpage.

If you're a street driver, whatever, you're money is better spent elsewhere as some of you guys will throw money at sound and bling before performance. Each to his own.

Steve's shown us F3x owners a great mod.

It just seems like that big U shape would be prone to twisting.

Yes, at first glance you'd think it would twist, but structurally, it's much much stiffer than it appears. I cannot twist it and I am no wimp.

Guide Support bearing 2EA : 3130284702

Thanks in advance for help!
Same issue...seems a digit is missing on the Guide Support Bearing

Assuming the first number of the 7 digit number cannot be 0, started inserting numbers.

The winner 31302284702

The extra 2 is missing.

Lancelot , Steve_Jr

I have an issue with:

Cover, windsheild panel, Left : 51718059699
Cover, windsheild panel, Right : 64318059697

The left comes up correctly.
The right shows a control unit cover.

Inserting 51718059697 (changing last digit in left panel) comes up as the Right Windshield Cover Panel and looks different than the 64318059697 item :

I had this on my list of things I'd like to do...but only if I came across a reasonably priced CFRP Strut.

eBay had several damaged CFRPs for $300 - $600 that did not interest me and new one for $999 OBO (person came down to $899).

Still I kept it on my daily eBay Search Notifications.

Several weeks ago someone listed a used one In mint condition for $600 OBO. I offered $500 and they immediately took it (so fast I should have offered less).

Then checking for the other parts, ECS had part Number 31302284702 (Upper Strut Mounts) 2 needed at @$52.50 each and free shipping. Did a double take as these are $187.87 each MSRP.

Ordered and received both. Was going to post here Immediately after my order shipped, but they must have caught the price error as it was immediately repriced to $149.75 each.

Glad I saved $200 on them, So I felt this was all falling into place.

Ordered the other parts from 3 other places and now everything is in hand.

However, I am confused by the Alloy Strut Brace that came in.

One of the sides has a black plastic piece around half the opening. The other side does not.

Examining the pictures I can find online, it appears none have the plastic part. Then again, I am not sure you could actually see it in the pictures if it was there.

Am I missing a part from half the Brace? Or why would this be on just for shipping covering only part of an opening?

Also posting a picture of the other side for reference.

Thanks.

No that's normal, it's to isolate from the battery wires which are only on the right side.

In a DIY on http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtop...brace#p1119998 it shows the braces (parts 3 and 4)
on the M3 Realoem page below) also being installed on an M2

That brace is not mentioned in this thread.

Are there no attachment points on a F30 - or another reason it was ignored?

No can't be attached to the f30/f20 body, as my understanding is it's wielded from factory before painting/coating.

Also I can't think what issue there could be with the crosslink, it's a simple swap.
