Apologies if this has been discussed previously, I'm using my phone to post and for some reason it wont let me search...?

Anyway, what do people think about A-Glaze Interior & paint Protection, is it worth adding to your car?

I can get it added by the dealer at a 20% discount so only £289 quoted by them but not sure if others have got it/reccomend it?

They say;
The advantages of having a vehicle treated with A-Glaze Paint Sealant

The A-Glaze professional application, covered by a five year guarantee on all cars, is only available through car dealerships and reputable valeting companies.

* Protection against acid rain

* Protection against the sun's ultra violet rays

* Protection against colour fading

* Protection against ionisation and fallout

* Helps protect against car wash swirl marks

* Helps protect against bird acid

* Ensures a continuous showroom shine

* Creates a 7 mirror image

* Easy washing and no polishing

* Prolongs the paint life of your vehicle

Sorry to be a party pooper. But, I've tried nearly every product on my many, many cars and they've been expensive hog wash, unfortunately.

The only one that 'seems' to have actually worked is Toughseal from Eurochem, even though some of the things they say like, 'Drag efficiency - The high gloss finish reduces drag and increases your vehicle's aerodynamic efficiency!', is total bollocks!

For the money that BMW dealers charge for A-Glaze (even with a discount), think you'd be better off going to a professional detailer.

Effectively all it is a decent sealant right? So if I visit a decent detailer I'll get the same service/effect?

sealann? - That's what you'll get when you get ripped off by a dealership. There are a couple of good detailers around but I just don't bother anymore. It's only a car and it will rot.

I had A-Glaze done on my E81 and from what I could tell over the two and a half years I had the car, it made no noticeable difference at all.

There are professional detailers who will do a new car prep for similar or less money. These guys are specialists who know what they're doing, who use quality products and who work to a much higher standard than franchise dealerships. Not saying the A-Glaze product itself is bad, but remember that it's a money spinner for dealers - they buy £30 worth of materials and then get some lackey to spread it over your pride'n'joy, wipe it off and then charge a huge mark-up.

I know which I'd rather have

Anybody know a good detailer in SE London/North Kent?
Your right! I did not take up the BMW Main Dealers offer.
I normally apply BMW liquid wax, which is quite good. Not exactly 'detailing' but it's easy to apply and gives a reasonable shine.
But what with the weather I feel a bit lazy!

Had mine detailed this week using mainly Wolf, G-technic and Zaino products. I would not have believed how good the result is at repelling dirt unless I'd seen it myself, it's amazing.
