I'm fine with mine, but I don't like too much brightness during night driving in the cabin. Being a Sport line I don't have the door ones either.

Yes. I have it set to Sport. Not terribly much night driving though.

sport setting? i only have the option of "classic" (orange) or "Luxury" (white), yes I have my car set on white (the X5 had orange and much brighter than this car), but the door trim led light is barely illuminated.
On another note, just installed the CIC dvd in motion CD and so easy to set up to have dvd player while driving, well worth it imo since no one around sydney seems to be able to code. |

Sport/ Luxury is the same thing. Different name for different lines. Luxury Line has some extra ambient cabin lights that the Sport (not sure about M-sport) doesn't have.

So I found the following:
Classic with brightness up full: Front seat roof liner light has 2 little LEDS, which glow 'Classic' BMW orange downwards as does the rear liner roof lights. In addition, there is a hidden LED, which lights up the front ashtray/drink storage compartments. To complete the package, there are LED strip in each of the 4 doors, which light up the door handles and armrests very subtly as it is just ambient lighting. Sport with brightness up full: As above but in cool white, which is what I have it set to for the time being. If anyone else finds more, please add to the list.

I think the Sports Lighting (white) is quite a lot softer and view faint over the interior door handles, but the Classic (orange) is definitely alot brighter in all areas on mine.

Can someone take a photo of classic lighting? I don't believe my lighting settings are working as there is no orange when I set it to classic...
Nevermind I manage to find those lights... they are so dark that you could barely see them... and that's when I had all the brightness on high... Last edited by CrazyLatte; 11-19-2012 at 06:17 AM.. |

Orange lights on the door trim is quite reasonably bright, the white on the other hand is almost not visible at all. You need to look up into the door trim to actually see them lit up but the illumination they emit is almost non existent imo.
