Are we getting an M335i after all?

Just saw the VIN check of the upcoming M235i on the home page. With F30 being more than one year into production, there has been little (if any) information confirming an M335i or M340i, whatever the name might be. I can't help but wonder if there will be an M335i after all. Or maybe BMW feels that 335i's are good enough performance wise ?

If we are getting it...I assume it would be M435i instead of M335i. (to replace the current 335is model)

+1 I'm thinking we're just getting a M435i and not a M335i but things may change.

I think we will get a M335i. I believe Scott said that the 2-Series is going to lead in the ///M Performance line up to the states. So it is probably still a ways off.

This makes a lot of sense, considering those 335is' only came in e92/3 forms.

Franz, this really bothers me. BMW should get tough on dealer misrepresentations. As BMW's success grows worldwide, it can only be expected that BMW's sales and service will deteriorate.

Plus, their whole concept of slot allocation is outdated.

As BMW's success grows? Are you under the impression BMW is a new company? I'm pretty sure they've had worldwide success for quite a while now.

What "misrepresentations" are you referring to? This thread is about rumors and speculation on the Internet, people trying to predict future models. Has nothing to do with dealers.

So after reading that there is only going to be an M235i in the US and not a 235i as well, I wonder if the 335i will eventually become the M335i only? Possibly when the new engine is released?

So what exactly is the point of a M335/M435? It will be the same as the 335 except include a DCT and ppk standard? Maybe exhaust? I understand why the e9x M3 is a no go for some, given it's fuel economy. But with the new M3/M4 being a Triturbo I6, won't this problem be eliminated? You get the LSD which is the real performance upgrade the 3 series needs. I guess it comes down to pricing, hopefully the M4 isn't ridiculous, gonna be a tough race between the rumored RS5 with TTV6 and the M4 for my next ride.

My guess is that the M Performance models, the M235i, possible M335i/M435i are BMW's answer to Audi's S products. Increased performance, better appearance & higher price compared to the base model but not quite as hard core and expensive as the M (RS) models. With the 2 series, the rumor is there will be no base 235i, only the M235i, so I wonder if this will eventually happen with the 3 and 4 series.

Sounds reasonable, my impression has been that the delta between A and S models are more pronounced than different trims in the 3 series, sans M3. You can get a 328 in more or less the same config as a 335, while an A4 can never really approach an S4. The RS models are sort of like unicorns here in the states, they rarely bring them and when they do it's 1 or 2 models.
