WANTED. Winter tyres for 400Ms.
Hi all,
I'm after some winter tyres for my recently bought 18 inch 400Ms. These have decent tyres on the fronts but rears need replacing. Wondering if its a big hindrance to run Winters on the rear and leave the normal ones on the front to get me through Winter? Any help is appreciated guys on sizes, preferences or if anybody knows anyone who wants to shift some? Thanks D |

Winter on the rear, summers on the front : In snow and ice, you'd have the grip to accelerate, but not to steer. Also, most of the braking is on the front brakes too, and they'd be useless with summers on.
Still sound like a good idea ? |

Absolutely do not mix winter and summer tyres. Stop being a tight arse and buy a full set of winters!

I just bought a pair of these for my rear 400M’s, same size should fit the front wheels great as well.

Got a square set of Nokians for my 400M's. Work really well.

What is the normal rear section on a 400M?
Only ask because the only time I ran a square setup was with the M135i (225/40 R18) and vowed never to do it again. I get in snow the thinner profile is an advantage, but on a normal cold day they were just awful. Almost worse than the summers when trying to put any sort of power down. Surely a 235 or 245 rear section would be better? |
