Used 335i VS New 340i

Hey Everyone,

I'm going to get my first bimmer this summer and I could use your advice! I was wondering if I should get a used (2012-2013) 335i with 30-40K miles for around $34K, or lease the new 340i.

I believe the price of the 335i will drop once the 340i is released, so that's a plus. But leasing would allow me to have the newer engine and I could build a car of my choice rather than comb through all the used ones to find one I like.

Thanks for the help!

You could likely find a used 335 with some great options over buying new

If you plan on modifications, there will likely be very few options for some time to come since this is a new motor

Good luck with your decision

I'l wait and lease the 340i...I think even though its the 1st production year and we know that German cars in the 1st production year are known to have teething issues, the 340i will pretty much come with the same inline 6 twin turbo as in the 335i tuned to produce a little more horse power and torque.

You'll find pros and cons for both options. Do some research and figure out what is that you really want.

The post-LCI car will have much more than a new engine. Talks of a revised (and much needed bump in quality) interior and of course the LED lights.

Wait for the new car, OP. I wish I would've.

This is a no brainer. Wait for the 340 to see if you like it. If you don't, buy a 335i. The 335i will be even cheaper then, especially if the 340i becomes a hit.
