I have my iPod nano hooked up through a y-cable in my 2012 F30. If I'm listening to the iPod and turn the car off, then later turn it on, the iPod's songs, etc., will show on the iDrive screen but I won't hear any music. It will show as if it is playing. I need to select "radio", in which the radio plays fine, and then switch back to "media" to hear the iPod music.

Anyone hear of this issue? Thanks.

Try just the apple USB cable. That's what I use without issue.

It doesn't work since I don't have enhanced bt+usb.

I think you can try to use another Y-Cable. Mine connected to Idrive using Y-Cable and don't experience this issue..

But is it the y cable if it does work...? I just have to switch to radio first to hear sound...

My '11 E90 does the same thing with my iPhone- might just be a glitch in some systems. I have never bought a different cable, but you might want to try that.

I have enhanced BT but if i use the Y cable my IPOD is crazy slow.. its works better on USB only
