I have an F30 BMW320, Basic IDrive. Bluetooth only for the phone. I would like to stream music through Bluetooth as well. So it is possible through coding.
-Is there any coding guide for beginners? How to do that? -Are there people in Ohio and Michigan area that also do this type of work? -What you guys do before taking the car for service? Do dealers considering this tampering and void the warranty? Thanks for your help! Last edited by Pauloxxi; 08-31-2014 at 11:14 AM.. |

Dear Frogman!
I'm new on this forum and every Bimmer stuff. I m from Brazil. I had an F30 and now I have an F20 125i with Msport package. I have few questions: Where can I download e-sys? Is this interface hard to use or is it easy? What I really want is: activate launch control (doesnt work), SAT (my car already got paddles shifters and sport+ mode), take of speed limiter, activate alpine retrofit sound upgrade, detailed tpms information, activate M Performance name on dashboard display when unlock the car, and maybe other features. Can you help me with that? My engine is same n20 of 328i. I have on, ECU modified with dastek unichip, afepower intake, downpipe and magnaflow exhaust. I already bought the JB4 stage 2, meth kit also from BMS, aluminium chargepipe, and thinking about changing turbo rotor for a larger one. With all those ups, a friend of mine got 0 to 100km/h in 3.8 secs and 0 to 200 in few less than 15 secs, which are such a nice numbers for a 2.0 liter engine. |

The interface is pretty easy to use. See here for instructions: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=696777 If you have the paddles, then you should already have SAT. Look at your option sheet or one of the on-line VIN decoders. The normal transmission is 205 and SAT is 2TB. There are numerous coding sheets out there. This is one of the newer and better ones out there: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1020138 This will list what can be coded on your car. |

I am already talking to Tom about this but does anyone know if Active Sound ('fake interior' engine noise/amplification) can be coded for the 2014 320i i.e. turned on? I know some of the 2014 328i's have it and I'm not totally opposed to anything that would give me some engine noise in the cabin. Thing is Prius quiet. Honestly what is funny is that with the windows down, the 'blowoff' waste gate turbo sounds are really pronounced, especially in sport and sport+, more so than they were on my GTI even with an intake. While I love turbo sounds, I'd like a little more growl and engine sound w/out having to go so far as an aftermarket downpipe or something that is going to mess w/emissions. If I had a 328 I'd just get the M performance exhaust and call it a day.
Thanks

I think you're referring to the speed control sensitivity. I think it has to be coded if I even have it.

I'm not sure how old you are, but it's a reference to an old tv show from the 90's called Home Improvement.

How can you figure out your car is with EBT just not enabled versus the car is actually without EBT on a hardware level? Any where I can check that? Mine is a F35 320Li, China version... so, really not sure if I can code it...I've been bothered too that the BT only has crappy phone function, given it only cost a penny for BMW to add the audio stream to it...

If you have the old CIC-based navigation system, or no navigation at all, then you can code EBT only if you have the Combox in the trunk. It's under the trunk cover on the forward left hand side of the car. It's a square silver finned box with wires connected to it. If you have the combox, you should also be able to code EBT. |

Hi guys,
I have a 2014 320i Normal Auto, and would definitely consider the SAT if someone can assist (I'm in SouthAfrica). Only concern: Motorplan...? Will this be regarded as a means for BMW to void it? A 2014 BMW with no motorplan is as good as "worthless" |

Be sure to turn on show notifications on your phone under the settings for that Bluetooth connection. Email is a little more wonky. You have to kill the email app on your iPhone and relaunch it once you are in the car to get the email to come through. Hope that helps.

Thanks! Can you tell me if any coding work that is done has to be removed when taking the car into the dealer for service? I just want to be sure that coding for SAT or EBT for example won't void my warranty or parts of it if they notice. The difference that I can see from other mods is that these are OEM pieces of software and not aftermarket.

Most people don't revert the changes and I have not heard of any issues with service caused by coding. If service needs to update the software in the car, the process will simply wipe out any custom coding you have done. The only time I've heard of people having service issues is when they do retrofits (like replacing the CIC with an NBT head unit). |

I happened across this post trying to learn about my car. I just recently bought a 2013 320i. It is my first BMW. I love it so far but I am interested in coding it to have access to some of the goodies you guys are discussing here. I'm not very technically inclined and was wondering if there was someone around the Allentown PA area that could help me out or if they could refer me to someone. I would like to get the most out of my car but don't trust myself to tackle coding by myself, furthermore I would not really know where to start. any help/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
