I have a 2012 328 i that i bought in October 2013 with 17 000 km on the odo. In February I noticed that there is a rattling sound coming from the front when the car is cold. The sound is audible when accelerator is pressed. But when it warms up the sound disappear. I sent it to the dealer more than three times. At first the put thicker covers on the engine to reduce the noise. Secondly they replaced the fuel pump and lastly they replaced the injectors. but there is no change. The noise irritates the hell out of me. Who experienced this noise and what is the remedy.My car has 28 500 on the clock now. Please help guys I love this car

if it is a diesel you should check with the dealer. Mine had to be fixed they changed a lot of parts, tensioner, timing chain and some other stuff!! very disappointed.Still not satisfied! The rattle sounds seems coming back now, could be my paranoia. it was nearly 7 months ago when they did it.

All N20/26 engines do this. It's the direct injection system. As the injectors warm they get quitter, don't know why.

I don't agree coz a friend of mine have a similar car and i does not have that noise and we tested another one at the dealer without that nose. as im speaking BMW South Africa is replacing my engine coz the replaced engine covers, Fuel pump and injectors.
