Should I be worried???

Bimmer virgin here. About to order 328d

After reading this forum I feel like my yet to be ordered 328d is going to self destruct as soon as I get it. I am not a noob to forums and realize only the bad stories surface....but this seems excessive.

Am I imagining things???

Please assure me that switching to BMW is the right thing to do after a history of Toyota/Honda/Mits

Although I am driving a Ford as a weekend warrior car. They are not exactly known for reliability.....

Lease it. You can't go wrong with zero maintenance for 4 years. Just have to buy tires when you return it.
If your buying, get extended warranty.
Maintenance cost will be your turn off if something goes wrong.
If you enjoy driving, you'll love driving a German car. So different from your Japanese cars.

^what he said, if you're leasing than who cares what goes wrong, if you plan to own then the extended warranty is a must.

No you should not - have a look at every automotive forum, people post there when they have problems, not when everything is fine.

It's not. On my 3rd BMW. You always hear the worst stories from the enthusiasts here. Myself included. However buying a BMW is s decision you'll never regret.

The 328d is a great car. Lease it! If you do purchase, keep it until warranty end then trade it.

If you're used to a Japanese car, this car will make you giggle every time you drive it. They are impressive. Keep in mind, you are going from a car built to last forever but not the most exciting to drive. The 328d is SUPER exciting to drive but will not last forever. Performance and reliability do not mix.

BMW offers great lease deals. Go drive one and go from there but you are looking at a whole different driving experience.

Its simple. Never own a German car with no warranty coverage.

If you built a F30 from parts prices it would probably cost $200K+.

That said, parts prices are getting crazy from just about all manufacturers. Labor is another story, but BMW seems be be excessive with some repairs. Meaning book rate can be 4 hours for a repair that takes 1.5 hours max. At $125+/hr, this adds up.

Yup, so annoying, they always charge you book time even if the tech does it in half the time.

Get CPO man. It's cheaper and has a longer warranty.

I got my car when it still had 2 years factory warranty plus 2 years additional warranty. That's 4 years of bmw warranty. I'm financing my car for 5 years so I'm pretty impressed.

Dealer has replaced over 10k worth of stuff. Good old n54 lol
