Yes, a comparison of the M235i against a 435i M Sport or potential M435i would be a more appropriate comparison, but there are no revealed photos of the 435i M Sport (and no photos of a potential M435i). This is just to provide our members with a comparison of the 2 Series vs 4 Series' general shapes and looks.

The angles on the spy photos also don't match up exactly, but we will post another visual comparison once we have official photos for both models.

For more photos of each revealed model, see:

4 series for me... 2 series doesn't flow as well, looks stunted.

Both are awesome looking cars.

I'm really looking forward to the 2 Series and I hope it will match the size of the E46 coupe.

Just as an aside, what is BMW trying to accomplish with the fuel door being mounted on the accent line? It sure seems like it would work better on the horizontal part of the body without disrupting the flow as much.

Both look good, one does not have the JC Whitney side vent and likely weighs a good bit less, so it wins for me.

I'm all about the 2 and am excited for it.. but I wish it looked as awesome as the 4. Pretty disappointed seeing them like this honestly. The 2 doesn't look aggressive at all.

It really doesn't, and having seen the 1 series, the X3, and now this car, I'm ready to say that BMW has a design issue with smaller cars. They all look a little too cute. The X1 _almost_ escapes with a little testosterone.

I'm with the majority. 2 series doesn't seem nearly as sexy as the 4 series. I really like what they're doing with the 2er but it really does come off as a baby bimmer design wise.

Would love to see the 435i M-sport or M435i or whatever it's going to be.

I agree. They'll turn heads... Some people will hate, as they always do. Wish the 4 series came without that terrible side vent.

I think the 2 looks great, looks alot like e92 to me but eh newer. The 4 seems bloated and too long. That side vent is horrible, ruins it for me. Maybe i should get in the market now for making an aftermarket fender w/ out the vent, I think i'd be rich.

The M235i is a major improvement from the 135i. I like the look of the 4 much more. Im considering one this september. What would be the pricing comparison?
I say 50k for loaded M235i and 57k for loaded 435i??

The cars are surprisingly very similar looking. The major difference that makes the 4er sleeker is the longer more sloping roof line and the more aggressive hoefmeister kink.
Both are made possible by the overall longer car. Other wise, both cars will be stunning. the baby coupe is no more the ugly ducking in the family.

The 4 series looks better imo. Sleeker, longer, more aggressive, fancier. Smaller cars just dont look that aggressive to me and a bit girlish.

I think you're in the 60s for a loaded 435i...lots of available options/tech these days.

I agree, add in things like laser cruise control, LED lights, upgraded stereo, active steering and the M-Sport package and it should easily be in the 60's.

I don't get how the 2er looks "cute"? Maybe it's the shorter length, but IMO, it reminds me of the E46 3-series coupe: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi..._TiAg_Side.jpg

Notice how long the 4-series has gotten? I don't think it makes the 4-series look bad or anything, but it's starting to remind me more of the 6-series design aesthetic.

The front end on the M235i is aggressive as hell! Look at the deep V angle of the headlights and grill. Check out the aero on the lower part of the front end. It's more aggressive than the aero on an E92 M3. If you think that's not an aggressive looking car, then you had your mind made up before you looked at it. Some people just won't be able to get over the fact that this is the "entry level" bimmer, but that's their loss.

I can't tell if the M235i's tails extend to the trunk like the 435i's.

As a potential buyer of one of these cars next year, I will be very interested in their relative performance. Given what I anticipate the 435 will weigh and my experience with the 135i vs my current 335i, I will not be surprised if the 235i is significantly quicker, and more importantly, more fun to drive. The 4 looks very sleek (except for that stupid vent) and hence promises a lot. The 2 could be the perfect sleeper.
