Bluetooth Software Update -MY2012

I just happened to check www.bmw.com/update and found a new update available for my car.

File name: UPD01008.bin

I'll try updating this tomorrow, but I wonder if it really fixes email and text message issues as described:

Office: Improved support for email mes- sages and the detailed view. Improved dis- play of sender of SMS text messages. Im- provement in the detailed view of text messages.
Telephone: Improved USB connection for iPhone devices with iOS 5. Improved con- nectivity of certain devices. For certain de- vices, better display and stability during calls. Improved Bluetooth connection with HTC devices. Improved sorting of the phone book in Android devices in Japan. Improvement in automatic pairing with Bluetooth devices. Improvement in connec- tion stability with Motorola XT903.
Multimedia: Improved display of additional album and track information. Improved con- nection and control for Bluetooth audio de- vices.
Improved functionality of TeleService, BMW Online and Internet for iPhone de- vices with iOS 5.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll go download and update. I may not notice anything different but I like to have latest software updates I can get.

That is exactly what I thought - however this is the first update for my car in 2 years. Sad how BMW only updates their most current cars frequently. Do they expect us to buy a new BMW because they don't offer updates to the bluetooth standards frequently?

I also have an early 2012 F30 (a 328i though) built in March 2012.

The latest for my vehicle is UPD01006 which I downloaded just after I got the car.

It is so frustrating to not have email working properly since I upgraded to Ios7!!

I emailed BMW U.K. and got the following reply :-

Having read the comments you have made, I can confirm that the Apple iPhone is not compatible with our vehicles for the display of text messages and emails at the moment. The reason being is that Apple will not open up their interface to allow us compatibility.

However, you are able to set up, send and receive emails via the BMW ConnectedDrive Customer Portal. I have attached a step by step guide which explains the process. I would like to make you aware that we are support the email providers that are found in the drop down list.

I trust that this information is of assistance, however, please be assured of my continued attention should you require it again.

Yours sincerely

BMW UK

I was looking at the BMW UK site for an update and that shows UPD01006.bin as the latest, whereas bmw.com/update shows UPD01008.bin as the latest, which I have just loaded up into my car.

The telephone / bluetooth software has been updated by a couple of reveisions from my previous software!!

Will see how it goes - BMW have dated the updated 2014 but it still talks of Ios 5/6!!

It is the email receipts / viewing on the screen that I want to get working again (broke after Apple moved to ios 6)!!

Not bad! Only 3 years behind the IOS release. IOS 5 was released in Oct of 2011. I can understand being one release behind or 8-12 months in order to get development, integration, testing and deployment, but 3 yrs!! Pretty abysmal support. Almost to the point of "why bother" !

Correction: the iDrive on-screen software details indicate that it covers IOS 5 & 6. 6 was released in Sep of 2012.

Installed on my '13 (4/13 build) 328ix. Can't tell much difference yet. I need to configure my iPhone 5 to send email to the car 5to see if that functionality finally works as it should. Note: This is only for CIC equipped (pre '14 model yr) iDrive units.

Upgraded mine too, no real noticeable difference as far as I can tell.

You still have to close the e-mail app to get e-mail notifications.

Why even bother with iOS 5 or 6 when 5.4% of the combined iPhone population are using it?
