I drive my E60(same exact setup as the F30) every other day and trust me the difference is night and day. |

Regarding the steering, I imagine the varying feedback on the F30 is dependent upon which vintage of the steering rack you've driven. (They have made improvements through several iterations over the last year or so.) I'll be surprised if the 2014 F30s aren't pretty similar to the feel of the F32; can anyone who's driven a VSS-equipped 2014 F30 comment?

Cars look amazing! I love the new 3/4 series. Now that there out of the way I want to add this;
I just can't get over the 4 in front of the 28i or 35i! I just can't. I thought it would be just another transition, but it just doesn't sit right. The 4 just looks stupid and out of place. Eh hopefully it will grow on me since well were stuck with it for ever. Purely IMO of course.

Sounds like the tweaking they did with the f30 PPK steering tuning was done on the 4 series steering... Nice review OP, you are a lucky man!
PS, bmw will never advertise steering changes because that would mean they were admitting one system was lighter than the other.

Glad I wasn't the only one that felt that post was out of line.
As a moderator, I look through quite a few threads on a daily basis. The good news is that the positive posts far outweigh the nasty/mean-spirited ones. OP, thanks again for the wonderful writeup. Without a doubt that will be an experience that you will remember and cherish for a lifetime.

BMW has said countless times in the official press release that the steering in the 4er is tighter because the front suspension is slightly different and more stiff in the 4er. It's not just a software upgrade but an actual mechanical difference. This is why the OP felt more road feel.

Did you really think that the 4 series' steering felt close to the E92's? When I compare my E92 to my brother's F30, the difference is pretty huge so if they've regained a lot of the weight which was lost and improved feel, that's really good news. I think the F30's EPS has a decent amount of feel, my biggest problem with it is how light it is and then how artificially heavy it feels in Sport/Sport+ on our 2012 F30. I had a 2013 F30 for a weekend and the steering has definitely gotten a little better through whatever updates they did to that car. That 2013 loaner also had the M Sport brakes which I really liked, if you're ordering a car I think they are well worth the $650 when you get them installed at the factory. |

Headroom F30 vs. F32
So from what BMW has published, there would appear to be 1/2" less headroom on the 4. Does that seem in line with your personal experience in the two models (assuming that the F30 loaner had a sun roof, otherwise all bets are off)?

As you build your car on the BMWUSA site, under Options select the 19" $900 tires and you will be required to get the M Sport brakes for $650. So it appears you can get these brakes without the M Sport package, but you also must get the 19" tires.

Could you describe a little more the difference between the existing daytime running lights (Xenon, I supose) on the F30 335i vs. these new LED running lights? Can you actaully tell a difference?
edit: Also, does anyone think that BMW will do a software update to the F30 steering? |
