hey, i'm interested in a 435i, it's equipped perfectly but for some stupid reason it has the aluminum trim (which i want) with the estoril blue matte accent (which i hate). any idea how difficult/expensive it is to change the estoril blue accent trim to the black high gloss?

Switch with me. I have the aluminum with Black trim and want the Aluminum with Blue to match my Estoril Blue exterior.

I am also thinking of having someone assume my lease, so maybe just takeover my car with the black trim already in it lol. Pretty loaded 435 61k car 665 a month.

I hear ya, my last 435 was manual, but the turbo lag sucked even with a jb4. Test drove a 435 with 8speed stock it was night and day. So much quicker with little to no lag.

I have no idea about removing it, I am sure there are shops locally who can do it. Maybe a couple 100?? I would have to look around. Where in Florida do you live?

Honestly when I slap it over to the left it is pretty damn engaging and so nice to be able to not shift once in a while when traffic is heavy. And I am a die hard stick guy, love this 8speed transmission. I tried switching out the trim when I got mine and was quoted like $700-$800 of the parts alone and between that and labor I was looking at well over $1000 to change some trim color, I decided it wasn't worth it on a lease.

To bad you don't live closer.

What's the MSRP and what kind of a deal are you looking at right now?

You cannot change just the blue stripe, you need to change the whole trim
Checkout the DYI for the f30, they will show you how to do it

It's the time you experience less power until the turbo speeds up and provides boost.

Well, kinda not really...but sure, that works. You do know that the transmission has nothing to do with turbo lag, right?

What is the point of your questioning? Button line my Manual Transmission 435 was no where near as quick as my automatic. The power to a while to kick in with the manual, in the automatic it is just always there and feels so much quicker off the line. This is all the matters to me. How quick the car feels and how much fun I have driving it. Who cares about the definition of turbo lag?

Yeah, that's what sucks about MTs. With an auto, you just put your foot down and it goes. With a manual, the car goes nowhere until you downshift. It sucks.

However, to answer OP's question...no you can't just change the highlight trim, unless you physically break it apart and epoxy it back together (it's what I had to have done with my trim...looks perfect). While they are two separate pieces, they are affixed together. You would have to change all the pieces, which is very easy.
