Comfort Access Not Working?

So yesterday, my comfort access refused to work. I couldn't unlock the door by pressing my fingers to the inside of the handle, nor could I locked the door by touching the top of the handle.

I was about ready to bring it in to be looked or (or check to see if there's some setting I somehow disabled). Then this morning, it mysteriously started working again. Has this ever happened to anyone else? And is there a setting to disable it or configure it?

I wonder if your key fob is low on battery or if something in your pocket was interfering with it? Sometimes I have to try twice for CA to work. Not sure what causes this.

My CA was working on both doors, after a few months of ownership, and only using the driver door, I was opening the car via the passenger door and it didn't open. I had to dig around for my keys, to unlock the car. When I got home I tested it and it seems that driver side was working, passenger side was not.

Took it into the dealer to have it fixed. They replaced some module and had the car for a few days.

Works fine now.

I would try replacing the FOB battery first.

Maybe the key fob is in the same pocket as your phone? Is the hal sensor working (when you pull the handle)?

On occasions, the locking won't work. I then just take my finger off and try again. I've never had issues with opening though.

Ah, how comforting all this is.

And they used to charge extra for this extra annoyance, now it's just built into the over all cost.

Mine always UNlocks the car but only locks it when the car is "home." If I drive it anywhere, it refuses to lock and I have to use the damn remote.

My neighbor has a 2010 335 and his has been doing it for 5 years but ONLY when he drives it, not when his wife does. Maybe it's a genetic thing because the same thing happens at this house. Different remotes at his place but the same remote used here so that indicates there's likely defective remote - he says with crossed fingers.

Anyway, I dropped mine off yesterday with both remotes and asked them to fix this little problem. Of course there aren't any tech types there today or tomorrow so the earliest anything will happen is Monday. The good news is that at least it "failed" numerous time in a row for both the SA and the Service Manager. We shall see and I'll post what happens.

OK, mini update - SA called and it turns out the problem is in the door handle (remote checked out OK) so it has to be replaced. Part should arrive sometime on Thursday so I likely won't get the car back until Friday - I can live with that (like I have a choice?).

Yep, that's what matters. It's amazing how much that particular "glitch" got under my skin - I need to keep things in perspective sometimes.

You're not the only one. :P I'm having issues with the comfort access on my wife's car. The foot waving trunk thing doesn't work. not sure why..

OK, here's the deal on the Comfort Access. I got the repair sheet today when I picked up the car.

There were no "faults," no "Bulletins" and all the wiring and connectors were OK. As a result, they concluded it had to be the driver door electronics had to be faulty and in need of replacement. I am So glad the Service Manager and the SA saw it with their own eyes!

It's worked six times so far so I guess that was it.

Don't "wave" your foot around (I'm thinking doing so somehow confuses the system).

When I bought the car, the guy was trying to demonstrate that function and I thought his foot was going to fall off from all the waving - I tried the in and out and it worked fine.

Just a simple in and out motion should do it. It doesn't open instantaneously so be a little patient. Likewise, once it "pops," if you wait another couple of seconds, it will actually open all the way so there's no need to touch it. (I presume that's the same on all of them?)

Not trying to beat this subject to death but CA is still working this morning. What has changed though is that before the "fix" (as in since day one) I had to actually pull on the door handle to have it unlock. Now all I have to do is slide my fingers into the door handle and it unlocks - no pulling at all - I like that!

I should clarify, it wasnt really waving. Kinda like a kicking motion directly forward and back. I know it should work because the demo X3 my wife drove had comfort access and it didnt take much to activate the sensor... It works perfectly on my 328 so, idk.. we'll take it in whenever we go for the first service.

I cannot believe this! I am once again having trouble locking the vehicle. Took it in and they confirmed it was inconsistent. I think I need to create some sort of "log" on this malfunction. I can get it to work at home but it fails if I drive somewhere.

Hmmmm - it dawned on me that it only seems to happen after the car has been started and driven elsewhere. When I go to the dealer, I have obviously done that and fails to lock in the presence of the SA (at least once). Last visit, I got out of the car and it wouldn't lock. As SA went to get new batteries for the remotes (just rolling the dice) I noticed my parking lights were on opened the driver door, and turned them off and did what any other insane person would do - pressed the lock button and it locked. I'm starting to wonder if this is a "start and drive somewhere issue" or, perhaps, something to do with opening and closing the damn door issue."

SA is off this week so I'm waiting for his return and then make another appointment to see if they can find the problem.

ETA The hyper sensitive UNlock function continues to work just fine - weird stuff.

My trunk release has NEVER worked either. Not a big deal to me either way.

Slightly off topic and I'm sure the answer is somewhere else on this forum, but when you touch the inside of the door handle to unlock the vehicle, does it unlock all the doors, or just the one you touched? I don't have CA, so I'm just curious...

On my 2014 it unlocks the front two doors, then when i put my hand behind the handle for a second time it unlocks all the doors.
