Think the 2's still have it as well. Its probably a factor of the color popularity in specific models vs their projected supply.
Glad its only temporary. Haven't they had supply chain issues with this color before? Wasn't touch up paint impossible to get for awhile?

The 3 series and 4 series coupe are built in Munich. The 4 series grand coupe is built at another factory in Germany (forget the name), and the 2 series is built in the Leipzig plant. It seems like just the Munich plant is running low on EBII paint, which would explain this situation.

US cars supplied from both Germany and South Africa. The paint used on all Rosslyn South Africa cars is made locally in Port Elizabeth South Africa and not imported. So a totally independent source than the German Factories. Standox is the paint technology provider.

I love my 435 eb colorway. My next choice would be metallic black. Eb is very versatile. Great during the day and nice and dark during the night. Really happy i ordered mine with this exterior color. As far as resale...folks will be fighting for this. True gear heads...not someone who just wants a bmw as simply a car.

Edgy, limited, trendy colors are exactly that. So when the trends end, the color dies. Dies ugly. I remember the Miami Vice Camaro. One minute, it's the hot color everyone wants, a year later it feels dated and embarrassing. Not just for cars, but fashions too, the price one pays for being cutting-edge is that passe is right around the corner. No knock on EBII or those who love it. It's just inevitable that it's going to be outdated and unwanted, just a matter of when the worm turns. |
