Looks like a copy of the Wangner FMIC. Core's probably not as good, but most of the cores we're buying are made in China anyways. Hard to argue with $200 shipped. I'd take a chance on it if I was looking for an FMIC.

Never ceases to amaze me how someone who's willing to spend what it takes to buy a BMW wants to put cheap Chinese parts on it. Old saying: you don't get what you don't pay for. Caveat Emptor!

+1

I am all about getting a great deal but 200 for an FMIC is crazy and definitely gonna be really crap quality core if it even fits properly. The F-series FMIC are not that easy to make as tolerances are small.

If anybody buys this please post some detailed pics.

For $200 there is no way this is a quality product and my guess is that it will be waste of money but there is only one way to find out
If you get it post pics and datalogs

I know what you are trying to say, but it has nothing to do with where the product is manufactured.

As long as you have strict quality control, genuine engineering process (not replicas) you can get quality products from China.

This is a replica of another intercooler and it is manufactured by an unknown vendor. In order to get all this done, sell it for $200 and still make profit you need to sacrifice quality (and lots of it)

I would roll the dice for 200 bux, I got the 399 dollar Rev 9 one off ebay (which looks the same) and fit fine. I think it's a matter of folks copying part and selling them without all the marketing and support of a proper sales channel. It's easy enough to install so it's not a large investment in labor either. They hardest part is holding it in place and trying to screw it in cause it's so heavy.

Wagner EVO 2 competition is a tune and fin intercooler this is a bar and plate ... It make look like it, but it definitely will not give you results close to the Wagner EVO 2 competition.

I would be surprised if this FMIC did better than stock to be honest

But isn't bar-and-plate a superior design versus tube-and-fin? My understanding is that given 2 cores of identical size, the b&p is more efficient. I had a 5" ETS intercooler on my previous E92 and it was far more efficient than the stock tube-and-fin. The ETS also had metal end-tanks (as opposed to the stock plastic pieces) and no 90-degree bends for the charge pipe connections, which probably helped as well.

Guess I'll be the guinea pig. I just ordered it. Very familiar with what a good IC should look like but will take plenty of pics.

I have no doubts it's similar if not the same as some of the brand name stuff out there, they all come from the same factories in China...wouldn't be surprised if the manufacturer decided to sell a few to some US eBay guys.

Different designs for different purposes

Tube and fin weighs a lot less and recovers much faster, thats why most track cars and racing teams go with that kind of core.

I find that interesting, seeing as how my ETS intercooler was maybe 1 or 2 lbs. heavier than my stock unit, most of which was probably the end tanks and charge pipe connections that were metal instead of plastic. I heard just the opposite about the "recovery" statistic as well. All I can say is that with no other tuning adjustments, there was a noticeable power increase after installing the ETS unit and no heat-soak effect.

I dont know where you heard that Bar and plate recovers faster than Tube and fin but it is definitely not true.

ETS is an amazing intercooler, i had it on my own car. Like i said each design has its pros and cons and both will do a great job cooling IAT.

People pay top dollar for car parts and have no idea that they are made overseas. Just because it is made in China / Taiwan doesn't mean it is going to be poor quality. iPhones are made in China. heheheheheh

In no way do I support buying knock-off or counterfeit parts but I cringe a little when I see people arguing about welded aluminum pipes... like the one made in the USA is really THAT much better.

To each their own though, props to the guy that actually bought it. I'm sure it will work fine but it's not going to to come with any instructions or hardware. LOL!
