Why do the M sport 400M rims look so tiny?

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, and from what I've gathered. They use 45 series front and 40 series rear tires. I believe the e9x 18inch rims used 40 series front and 35 series rear. But then I saw a sportline and the 18 inch looked like a good size...but there's no way it's using smaller series tires...so what gives? How do I make this look better! haha

Thanks in advance!

Lower it.

It's that simple.

The reason the 18's look small is this car was designed for wheels from BMW upto 20" from the factory.

That is HUGE for a 3 series.

Yea, but it's more so the tire that looks really big. Probably cuz they fit 20's, like you said, they probably have to use super fat tire to keep the diameter the same on the 18s. I'll just have to wait it out till I can get a cheap set of 19's i suppose.

it's not the size man, it's what you DO with them...

Like Jameson said, when you lower it, different look...mine are sitting 20mm lower on the 400M's, I think it's a nice stance.

20's would look meaner, but I didn't want to replace rims every week..

Oh wow, yea! That looks so much better. Which suspension drop do you have and do you have the adaptive suspension?

It's the design of the wheel. The Sport Line 18" spokes go all the way to the edge. This gives the illusion that the wheel is larger than it is. Also adding to the illusion is that the M-Sport has a body kit that makes the front/side/rear look bulkier.

Yeah take a look at the lip of the rim. The M lip is much thicker visually and extends beyond the spokes.

The Sportline rims have spokes that go visually right to the edge and a lip that quickly rolls back.

The M bumpers also visually hang down lower which makes the wheels look smaller. Look at the standard sport bumper and you can see that the bumper starts to fold under about 2" before the bottom edge. The M sport bumper just stops.

Yea I have an M sport and I realized I already have the 10mm lower suspension. So it's not lowering the car that's gonna make it look better. But what you said makes sense, I guess it's just the design complementing the beefy look of the M sport package...man, I've been looking for the M-Sport 403M rims on the forum, but people are just asking a ridiculous amount of money for em. Anyone know if stock 19's from an e90 or f10 would fit and what might look good?

I think that would be lame. The 403 weights 3lbs per corner more. So you would be slowing down your car. The 403 is a bit less aggressive of a design, but that is just my opinion. If the 400 was a 19" wheel and weighed little enough, I think I would have kept them

Look at what the 400's look like when lowered and possibly spacers are put on.

I think it might be custom, it's Artem's from 180NYC. I am sure he has info about it somewhere.

I wonder if it could be the style of tire? I have the Conti SSR, cuz I know some tires have more of a stretched look, whereas some tires have straighter sidewalls. I think the SSRs have a very bubbly sidewall. Anybody have Bridgestones or other summer tire pics they could post?

Wow! Your car looks really cool. It looks even lower than when you had just lowered it using the M-perf suspension and the "springs".

The color plays a huge part in the deception of the wheels size.

I have a feeling it's the tires. Looking at the above pics where the 18's look "reasonable" they are all wearing Bridgestones. My car has Conti SSR's and I think they buldge out and make the tires look thicker.
