ACS vs Bilstein

Hi folks, had the 435i just over 3 weeks now and the body roll needs sorting out! (Plus the massive wheel gap) . Have been browsing around and noticed most people have been using the ACS springs and was set on getting them however it seems I can get a decent price on a set of Bilsteins B14 coilovers from Germany.

Obviously don't want to spend that extra on something that isn't going to be worth it.

Thoughts on what to purchase?

Hi all
Why arnt people happy with what they have purchased instead of wanting extra added to their new car.BMW cars are not cheap so paying out extra is a no no for me.

ACS springs will improve it a bit, then upgraded anti-roll bars a bit more.

Going bilstein will be as other step ahead again, but you lose adaptive damping on the move (if you specced them?), but can adapt to ones own preferences when parked up. If you're likely to take it on track regularly then that would be a great option.

Current euro exchange rates make them quite cheap at the moment.

Because you can always improve things. It's a free country so everyone is free to make one's own decisions on what to do with ones own money and car.

I actually enjoy modding up my car. It's not necessarily because I want it to be the best handling car in world...9/10 people would probably be happy with how it comes but I'm just not ...

But then again I couldn't afford a 911 which I would of left untouched

I don't have adaptive.

Nor will I be tracking it. I just don't like that roll when I'm pushing it. It's quite abit of body roll.

And yes, the exchange rates are what's making me think about the coil overs! It's almost a 'value' buy. Know I don't necessarily need it but if it's just abit more than the springs is it worth purchasing the bilsteins.

If I had a car without adaptive already then I'd go for a set of Bilsteins.

I'm not saying its ain't a free world
If I was purchasing a new car I would have test drive and if the body roll or anything else I didn't like I would not buy it.

You forgot to add if it sits too high also!

Just like I have free choice you get free speech. understand your reasoning though whether I agree or not.

Does this apply to my house also? Guess I can't do it up

I have same set up as you (sdrive, M Sport, non adaptive, 3l engine) and for me the ACS springs have sorted the body roll & ride height perfectly!

Now maybe if you want the all out best handling then Bilstein are the way to go but for me I didn't want to risk losing any ride comfort, and my car behaves how i want it to with just the springs anyway.

Also the B14's minimum ride height drop is 30mm which is too much for road use imo! You'd need the B16 Komfort kit which can be set higher than that.

What massive gap? I can see that on a 435d but the 435i is hardly massive

It was a slight exaggeration! And no way near like a 435d lol. Just like the car to sit nice and low with minimal gap.
