BMW Military Sales Order COMPLETE!!
Well, I thought I would make a thread about my order. This is a car that I am purchasing for my wife. I am deployed to Afghanistan right now and started this process almost immediately when I got here. Thank God that I did because it has taken nearly 4 months from start to finish, she is finally signing for the loan today and the car was completed last night or will be complete today and ready for shipment. Estimated arrival to Alaska from Munich Germany is late April or early May
The details on pricing and options are below. Even with military pricing, it would not be hard to push the 335XI to $55K, which is a bit overkill. So I went with the basics and chose not to get the options that we really do not need or cannot even use in Alaska, like Navigation (hard to get lost in Alaska lol). So Military pricing for the 335XI base is $39,500.00. To compare, base pricing for a 328XI is $33,500.00, but the 335XI comes with a lot more standard feautures. I was close to ordering a 328XI M Sport Line, but after all said and done, the difference between the two was a mere $3,000.00. So it was a no brainer to go ahead with the 335XI. The build below compared to the actual MSRP is about $6,600.00 in savings. 2013 335XI Sedan Sport Auto 300 Alpine White ZMM M Sport Line LCDF Venetian Beige Dakota Leather ZCW Cold Weather package W/ Heated Steering Wheel 2TB Sport Automatic 4AB Dark Burl Walnut Wood Trim 2PP 18" Star Spoke 400M Wheels w/all season tires Base price - $39,500.00 Price with Options - $45,900.00 Shipping to US and onto Alaska - $1645.00 Total Price - $47,545.00

I'm in Afghanistan also, and just ordered through Superior Motors MSP. Over four years of seeing their ad in the Stars and Stripes finally got to me. Just wondering how the experience has been for you through MSP? My 335i Sport Line, metallic grey, black leather w/ red highlight just started production and has an expected delivery mid May. Any tips you can give me on the process?

Are you going to have to pay sales tax on it when you get to Alaska? I bought a 328i in England and had to pay 15% sales tax once i got to Arizona. It was tax free in the initial purchase but when i went to register it in America they required the sales tax to be paid i paid $2,070 . Anyways congrats on your new car

If you have not already completed the financing, which you really can't until it completes production, I suggest starting that process now. My local credit union had me approved for the loan, but they had a really hard time understanding the process. It came to the point where we came up with two options for them, and if none of those worked, I would have had to find a different lender. The sales rep at Superior Motors, who happened to be good friends with my sales rep, gave me a great idea for my bank and even though I was not their customer, they were really helpful. The issue was with the MSO; as BMW will not release the MSO (Title) until it is paid for. They had a terrible time understanding that this was a direct sale from the factory, not through a dealer. We ended up going with a letter from BMW HQ stating that my VIN# belonged to me and my vehicle, and that the MSO would be released and sent to the lender upon payment. Quote:

Hey Wes, congrats on the new ride you will be impressed with the F30. As a guy who has owned a few BMW's last being an E90. I can not tell you how bad ass the F30 really is. Thank You for your service to this great country too. I hear so many today complain about nonsense in their lives without realizing all the freedoms and opportunities we have here in the USA which were bought and paid for through the sacrifices that you and your fellow military men and women provide for us everyday. The only complaint I do have is I paid 4100 in NYS sales tax, that was killer. Felt like I threw 4100 out the window. Anyway, enjoy the new ride and stay safe.

Wes335XI, thanks for the info. I am also pre-approved through my credit union. I have forwarded all paperwork from MSP explaining the program to the credit union, and even wrote out a detailed explanation to my loan officer. The credit union sent me a security agreement with the car's VIN# that I had to sign and add insurance info. I had to mail the original with signature back to them and I'm just waiting for them to receive that so we can continue with the financing process. The loan officer said that's all she needed to continue, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I think I'll get with my Superior Motors sales rep and see about getting a letter from BMW HQ like you did, just in case...Thanks again for the info, it's greatly appreciated.

It really is hard to beat the Military Sales Program. I've got connections at a Maryland dealership, and the closest he could come to my MSP price was still about $2000 more, with every incentive he could come up with.

Would just like to thank all of you for the kind comments, it means a lot to all of us who are over here. I'm in the United States Air Force as a Air National Guard Member. Afghanistan is an interesting place with an interesting mission. The weather and scenery can be so beautiful, at times during the day, now that Spring is around the corner here, it feels like I could be in California it is so nice. It's just in the wrong country....
I cannot say much about what goes on here, but you would be amazed how much money it takes each and everyday to keep things flowing here. Afghanistan is land locked, which means no ocean to transport items by sea. That means everything comes by air. The draw down will be a massive undertaking for all branches of the military to say the least.

I'm not a USAA member. I probably should become one and take advantage of the benefits. Regardless, I do not think that BMW would extend that rebate/credit for this program. All rebates and credits that they normally offer do not apply. Good luck with your order! If you need any questions, advice, etc, shoot me a PM. Which BMW Military program office are you going through? I can refer you to a couple people from two different ones that helped me quite a bit in the process. -Wes

Here is where she stands now. Just to give an idea of what it looks like once you start tracking your order and all options/colors are correct.

the military sales program is great with Superior Motors and a very simple process. Coordinated everything through email and never had to make a phone call. Very smooth process but you will pay taxes once you get back to the states and the dealer does not help with paperwork like they would if you bought the car at their dealership. But still would highly recommend it while you are over there.......just something else to spend that tax free money on instead of blowing it on the boardwalk in Kandahar.

Hey,
It will take a while for that to update in their system. I think it took them 2 weeks to finally see it. It is best to call the 800 number and see if it is in the system yet. I used the MYBMW login on bmwna.com and used the VIN# to track it there. Your agent should also be able to give you an update as well.

Status just changed to "Finishing Touches". Car made it to VDC at Brunswick, GA on Friday afternoon. I'm looking to set up delivery for May 12th, the day after I get home. Almost at the last stop on the High Anxiety train ride!

Well, after 45 days on a ship from Germany and being processed through the West Coast BMW Processing center and on another ship to Alaska, it is finally here. I am expecting a call tomorrow to finally take the wife to get her new car. Because of how things are when doing a military order we have already made two payments on a car we do not even have yet lol. But it was definitely worth it and will post pics tomorrow!
