Insurance
Hi all. I've done a search. Promise.
Any names of who to call would be very welcome. I've gone on to Compare the Meertwat and lowest with no mods declared was £700. Add springs and the lowest price doubles. Wow. I've emailed Adrian Flux. Any others I need to call? Thanks in advance. |

I have always found the cheapest insurers to be the ones that aren't on the price comparison websites. Admiral, Aviva, direct line are all decent.

Second for Aviva. Get a quote and take 28% off for the price you should be paying.
If it's better than other quotes, get the app, do a 200 mile round trip on the mway driving conservatively, sorted. |

Agree Aviva were quite competitive when I did a quote last October, ended up getting Esure to beat all quotes though in the end so stayed put.
I'm pretty sure these price comparison sites come out a lot cheaper if your on the electoral role and have a decent credit rating too. Why do I think this? Experimenting last year I used a fake name but with the same postcode as my own and all other details the same as my own, car, driving history etc and the cheapest quotes were more than double what they were using my real name. So even though I ticked the boxes to pay in full rather than monthly it appears these price comparison site quotes take into account if they can find you registered at the address/credit rating too. Try Chris Knott if you have mods. |

Aviva here too. Well under 400 for an unmodded 440i.

What score do u need to get 28%. Is it realistic? Seems like a substantial saving!

In the past I've found Admiral to be mod-friendly, up to a point.
For the past couple of years I've insured via A-Plan Thatcham. Even for my very modified 30d, and with full business cover, I 'only' pay mid-£700s.

Privilege were fine about the MPPK on my 330D once they'd had it explained to them at some length. Additional insurance was about £30 pa. Had a multi-car discount with them at the time and didn't want to lose the benefit so stuck with them

Update: Last year the cheapest insurance for me was with M&S @ £850, with no mods. Their insurance renewal (no mods) was £1,200 for this next coming year.
I did a comparison search on CTM and with mods (ACS) the cheapest was £1,500. Gulp. After some work this morning: M&S with ACS declared was £2,766. Called Admiral. WITHOUT ACS as a starting point was £1,947. Called Chris Knott, with ACS was over £2,000. So, got back on CTM and did a "with and without' comparison. So my own "Compare the Compare the Market" exercise ; Cheapest WITH "Suspension Modification" standard tick box selected was Performance Direct @ £1,349. Cheapest WITHOUT "Suspension Modification" selected was LV @ £630. That's over DOUBLE for ACS springs! really? I called LV and explained. Fully explained what the ACS Springs are. I even told them that I only upgraded to ACS Springs to help fund Lorcan 's Yacht. She seemed to understand better. Final Outcome: LV with ACS declared....£715.59!!!!! WINNER. Thanks guys and a great result for me again today!!! This forum is AWESOME. |
