How to clean dead bugs on front fascia
Okay, I'm really enjoying driving my F30 at night with the xenons.
Apparently, all the night critters are attracted to the bright lights as well. I look at the front fascia this morning, and it is a graveyard of all sorts winged insects. At least they died happy hitting a F30 bumper.. I need suggestions to safely and quickly clean off the insect body parts. I don't want to be washing my car everyday. Any ideas? Also, I'm imagining the radiator is gonna be soon splattered with bugs too. Anyone have experience cleaning that? Thanks! |

Have look on the AutoGlym website - I know they do Bird Poo wipes so I would be surprised if they didn't do insect wipes or something similar.

Provided that you've used a high quality wax or sealant on your car before you crushed the life out of those poor, innocent bugs, then the use of a quick detailer like Optimum No Rinse will remove their twisted remains.

I use this one, works very well. The insects "melt".

The nose of my Corvette is prone to this. What I do is soak a microfiber towel until its drenched, then moisten and wipe the bugs off, folding and rotating the cloth every couple feet or so. This removes 90% of the bugs and residue. then I spray the damp nose liberally with a spray detailer, let sit for 1 minute and wipe with a high quality microfiber. This removes the rest and leaves the paint very slick for the next drive, so stuff sticks less.

Used dryer sheet. Works wonderfully to clean up front bumpers. If anything is left over, then soak the buggers and use microfiber or another used dryer sheet to get the rest.

I guess it should be gentle enough not to damage paint or clearcoat. Also, what brand dryer sheet? Bounce? Snuggles? or BMW? |

that is either an old wives tail or the new bug n tar spray solution is better and it doesn't remove wax/sealant.

The important thing is to avoid scratching the paint when you remove the bugs. There will be abrasive material mixed in the goo........ For a lot of bugs, the best thing is probably to use a do it yourself spray car wash - the ones with the high pressure wand. You can also use this to get rid of the bugs off the radiator - just spray through the grille slats.
Take the bugs off as soon as possible - it will make it much easier. ...........and be sure to use a couple coats of wax - and re-wax after you clean the front - it makes it easier to remove the critters. |

Try a product called Bleche White. You can find it at any store in the automotive section. I found out from a field training officer of mine. Believe me, nothing attracts bug like a 100 MPH white car. And no, it has never hurt the paint. And yes, I use it on my BMW also.

Using just the pressure washer seems to work for me. I soak the car first, letting everything loosen and then go over with the pressure wash, bugs all gone!
