Well here is the update:

Picked up my car. Most of the issues I had, have been resolved. Overall, the car definitely drives better. While I feel I have more power, I enjoyed the swift acceleration of the 320.

They replaced, the map sensor (from the notes there was permanent fault), replaced the FEM (ASS stalled once, instead of restarting) SA mentioned something about the system not detecting my foot on the brake, and lastly updated to the latest i-level on account of my sluggish acceleration comment. Been trying to research the l-level thing. I don't see it mentioned too often in the forums

I am pretty satisfied with this service visit as they seem to have addressed my concerns.

Forgot to mention, driving the hello out of the 320 i trip computer was showing avg mpg around 21 lol. Like all the 328, if driven gently mileage is pretty good.

Glad it worked out. Keep us updated

If you look up the torque curves on the 320i, vs 328i, you will notice the 328's dips a bit early in the rev range [starts 100 RPM higher, at 1350, also,] while the 320i's is more consistently flat, and starts of course at 1250.

Most of the advantage in power, in addition, is in the higher revs, so the 320i has actually been described as more tractable in day-to-day driving use by Motor Trend, etc.

As somebody who went from a 228i 6MT to a 320i 6MT, I agree 100%.

This is something often done with lower output engines. BMW did a similar thing with the 3.0 litre diesel engine (530d vs. 525d), as in the UK market. The tune of the engine in the 525d was better torque spread in the lower rev range. Anyone not requiring the outright power gain of the 530d tune, had a more useable low to mid range in day to day use, driving a 525d.
