Help on the 403 wheels again

Right my car is due at the dealer by 16 April - 10 days or so away.

I have now decided with the help of the forum the 403's as opposed to the 400's look better on the car.

The only cost effective way open to me is for the dealer to spec another car now with the 403 wheels and change them over when it arrives. This will take 7 to 8 weeks. i.e. end of May.

I know I am certainly indecisive however,

Would you wait the 8 weeks or am I mad.

You're not mad, ultimately it's your car and your spending a fair whack on it, what's 7-8 weeks in the grand scheme of things when you get the car you want!

You've definitely made the right decision. The 403's looks the dogs compared to the standard 18's. You would also be seeing the 403's on the road and thinking .. if only....

It really depends on how much you really want them, many prefer the 400 style so would say your mad, others like M403, me included. If it meant getting the spec exactly right, I would wait, as has been said you'll kick yourself every time you see M403's.

I bought a stock car once without option to spec it to my liking. I ended up spending lots to retrofit all sorts of extras.....vowed never to do that again.

I saw a lovely EBII F30 today in a St Albans car park today with beautiful individual leather (not sure if it was the Opal White or Cashmere Beige). The colour looked lovely as did the seats inside but the 18" wheels really looked too small!

Still I wouldn't wait 8 weeks just for them.

What are the plans for the other car they are planning to spec and bring in, is it for another customer or will it be for their own staff or demo purposes. If the later you could maybe strike a deal to take your car with the 18s, give them a few quid for tyre wear over the next 8 weeks and then swap over when the second car arrives. So long as you haven't damaged the wheels they get a set of pretty perfect wheels with approx 2 months wear for which you will reimburse them.

That way you get your car now and in 8 weeks you also get the wheels you want.

I was thinking the same myself, although its going to be hard waiting, Thanks once again for the feedback. Seen this pic where the wheels are painted in ferric grey. Looks pretty good too.

Hope this helps.

Just remember;
  • the ride will be firmer
  • they will be harder to clean
  • tyres will be more expensive

Flip that question around. Would you want to get your F30 2 months earlier but you have to swap the rims to the ones you didn't want?

It's a funny thing expectation management. If you speced the rims originally and told to expect your car end of may, you wouldnt have thought anything of it.

The worse thing is your car is literally just around the corner..

As Richard says, I too am not sure I could wait another 8 weeks for the car if I know it's arriving next week.

I remember the moment I decided on the 19s at the dealers. He said, "the 19s just make the car...."

I was like, god damn it,Ok. Because we all know what he means.

Try get the dealer to sort something out to get car know get a set of M Perforamce 20" on trade price from dealer and sell the others to me cheap so I can put winters on nice 18" job done, how do I pay? Problem solved

For the wheels? No. But I just did a similar thing for Xenons and HK audio. If it matters it matters. I'm still off the wheels because of the diamond cut thing and alleged corrosion. But I also think the 400s look nicer.

Aren't the 403s on the delay list anyway? Might not be the end of May?

No matter what people have chosen. We're all happy with our F30s.

Bit annoying when we get the 18s slagging off the 19s and vice versa posts.

Everyone is happy with what they have and I say be happy with what you have.
Only problem is zorroone doesn't have his car yet. lol. And as you already want them, if you don't get the 19s I can only think that this will be nagging on your brain till the end of days.

If I decide to go with the 403's I think I would prefer to wait and avoid any hassle and risk.

I honestly can't see the size difference between the 400 and 403. It's so small that I think you're fooling yourself if you think it's night and day better one way or the other. Ultimately it comes down to which spoke pattern you prefer. I like the look of both the 403 and 400 but I really like the look of F30AM's car.
