Hope it's nothing serious! I taught my now wife how to drive my old 240SX 3 years back. I know that feel... luckily that car was built like a tank and didn't have issues after those jerky horrendous stalls.

Obviously, she's forgotten now and thank God my car has all these fancy assists for when I do need to teach her to drive the BMW.

Ha ha, me too, many years ago. Girlfriend at the time, wife now, so it wasn't that bad I guess.
Even though she knew nothing about it at the time, she was "correcting" certain things I was telling her that were "wrong".

OP, hope it's nothing serious, I mean, BMW on a tow truck, let's face it - might not exactly be your girlfriends fault. Great that she was willing to learn at least, keep it up, go back to it after fixing whatever issue that was.

I taught my ex how to drive stick and I told myself after that time that unless I am purposely looking for a fight, otherwise I will never do that again.

So the question is were you looking for an argument with your wife?

Freaking word. I had some Bronze TE37's on the car at the time, and she curbed two of them while focusing on trying to get the clutch to grab while turning. It hurt. Like...a lot.

Even on the back of a tow truck that is one stunning car.

I tried it once with the wife about 10+yrs ago...She told me she wanted to learn from someone who had more patience... Never went through that again... Like ooonowindo said if you're looking for a fight this is the perfect opportunity...lol

The clutch died. In fairness she probably, at worst, hastened its demise by a couple of weeks. It was a 15 year old clutch that has seen plenty of action. I replaced the clutch and flywheel and smaller parts and the repair bill was $3000.

On the bright side the car has never driven so well, she feels like new.

Picture of the clutch missing a side that disintegrated, and equally fuzzy picture of the flywheel.

I think it's sexy when a hot chick drives a stick.....
Shows class !
Never dated a woman who could not drive stick (not that that's a criteria, it's just worked out that way). And no....they still can't drive my car.

I taught my first wife how to drive a manual, but I had an old Celica at the time and it would take a beating...

my 2nd wife knew how to drive a manual when I met her and had a manual at the time...in fact her car now is a 2013 Focus ST and it only comes in a manual...fun little car to drive. We are restoring an old Chevy pickup and we both agreed it had to stay a manual!

My then girlfriend, no fiancé, tried to learn on my G35. She had to position the seat all that way up and angled down.. and she still could not depress the clutch completely. She's only 5 feet tall and had the most difficult time holding down the clutch as it was on the heavier side. Definitely a sight.
