Another lpfp melting
This lpfp melting nonsense is beyond frustrating. Installed walboro 535 (not a hard diy) and it melted the lpfp hat and harness adapter. I've self installed PS2, hpfp, fbo, inlet, meth, jb4, BEF...no issues running meth map hitting 23psi. Installed lpfp was the worst decision. Car cut off at a intersection, stuck, had to get towed. Melted hat. I cation all to avoid if possible. Or go stage 3 since the help bs supposedly avoided.
Anyone know the part number for the oem wire harness? Since mine is a freaking melted blob of plastic now. Sorry for the rant. Frustrated. D |

What LPFP specifically? Was it one of the ones made specifically for our application? The ones that are not can do exactly that or overheat EKP since they draw too much current.
I would check getbmwparts or FCP for your replacement |

+1. To expand on that what would overheat is the wiring and/or connectors if they're too small to handle the higher current that an aftermarket pump might draw. Before changing any electrical component you need to compare its current draw to the stock part, and if it's higher increase the wire and/or connector ampere rating.

I have the Walbro 535 in the Precision Raceworks Stage2.5v2 kit that I bought. No problems at all for a while now. Maybe PR does something as part of the kit that assures the correct power draw from the stock EKP. They advertise it as working with the stock EKP.

Thanks all. I was able to find the Deutsch adapter and then had to order specific BMW Deutsch connector pins to crimp wires to then insert into adapter. I think the fail is mine due to incorrect diy I followed on forums and yt. If you need to upgrade lpfp pls take my advice and just order from one of the reputable vendors. DIY ain't worth in on this one.
Thanks all for the feedback. |
