What are you talking about this engine is already in the 5 series and in the Z4. There will be no problems with this car nor engine (1st year).

N20 Tune

I am looking to get the new N20 tuned up in my X1. Does anyone know how to go about getting this done from Kelleners, or is there another way?

You can order it from a reseller who are selling it over 2k for now...I guess we'll have to be patient! When the X1 hits the american market prices will drop for sure! Also more options like CAI and such...

I had a chat with Eurocharged.ca today and they mentioned that they will carry some.

Don't confuse error-prone dyno numbers that anyone can inflate or deflate at will with hp numbers calculated on an engine dyno, as BMW does. Their numbers are pretty accurate.

Also, don't confuse the N55 with the N54. It would indeed seem that some N54 of the first two years of its production (in particular press cars...) made more than the 306hp at the crank that they were advertised for. Later models were pretty much as advertised, with the usual variance of 5% that you will see with any measuring that you do.
I think we'll have to wait and see. Even so, 293hp is close enough to make little difference, in particular if you take the weight difference into account.

Alpina_B3_Lux
FWIW, I've seen a stock 2010 335i dyno at 280 first hand. My own car (an E46 M3 with the euro exhaust... should be putting out 343HP if BMW's numbers are to be believed), also put down 280hp on that same dyno. I know the car in question is not an N55, but it's not an early n54 either (nor was it a press car). I honestly do believe that n54s were underrated for the most part. I do accept that the M3 has more drivetrain loss (older transmission, LSD, more parasitic losses due to water pump and mechanical fan), but 280whp would be a 7% drivetrain loss if the car turly has only 300 at the crank. That'd be quite an efficient drive-train...

Now that these cars are on the market, has anyone actually bought and tested this mod?

Have they mentioned any real world case studies?

That would explain how they can use basically the same engine in a car that basically weighs the same amount and get much better gas mileage...

Definitely your engine warranty will be voided, most likely transmission, too. For $550, I can see the tune being worth it. At $2000, why not just get the 335 instead? Better sound, better power, and smoother motor.

For two grand, this would only make sense to people that already purchased the 328 and is looking for more power.

Or you could live outside the US in a country where import duties and taxes means cars cost 3 times as much.

So the jump in engine size from a 2L to a 3L equals an increase of about 15,00USD .

In that instance, a 2,000 chip swap makes a lot of sense. (Probably buying a luxury car under those circumstances doesn't make any sense anyways buuut...)

Additionally, some countries tax differently based on engine displacement. Annual licensing fee can be based on displacement as well. So, I guess it makes sense to some.

While in Canada car is not as cheap as the US. I am just damn glad that the 335 don't cost much more than the 328 over here.

I just want to know, any update news for this product? Is it launched to the market already? Any car installed?
And my most concern, the installation guide. When u go for the SSTT for the E90 335i. They have clear instruction how to install. This is for sure one of the factor to consider whether buy it or not.

The car is launched, for sure they can have some project car to install. Why take so long?

I am also waiting for Split Second and see will they have a similar product.

I would choose the AC Schnitzer tuning which you can order through your BMW dealer, get even 295 bhp and keep your factory warrantee!

You could also choose the unbeatable sound of the straight-6 and tune that to 400hp... Difficult choices... :-)

i wonder how big of an aftermarket the 328i will see....or if the major companies will focus more on the N55.

I was quoted $2195 for this and it will be a special order from Germany, 3-4 weeks. I was hoping to hear $800-$900. I'll wait.

I hope they come with some aftermarket parts soon for the N20... Esp a new exhaust. I'm not too keen on the dual single sided stock exhaust
