Does any one have a TSB number for this? I am bringing in my car in wednesday and so far found SI B12 09 12 - N55: Intermittent Loss of Power - however F30 is not listed on there.

Cool. Do you also notice the oil temp seems to run more toward the 250 mark where it's supposed to?

Engine fan fault codes! New fan being replaced. Which really means ill be seeing them again.

I was hoping my first post as a new BMW owner would have been a happy one, alas, it is not.

This weekend I experienced the same problems/symptoms others are describing in this thread. I was driving around for about 30-40 minutes, not being aggressive or anything like that, pulled up to a red light. When the light turned green, I could barely accelerate. The Honda Del Sol next to me left me in the dust...a DEL SOL!

Anyway, after I wiped away my tears and turned off my sad music, I noticed the really loud fan noise. I also noticed the oil temperature dropped from about 250 down to 170-ish. It's going in for service tomorrow.

EDIT: This is a 2013 335i M-Sport with a production date of 11/2012. It has 3100 miles on it.

Happened on the way to work this morning in rush hour traffic. I'm asking BMW to buy this car back. Barely over 4k miles.

I brought my car (October 2012 build) over on 04/24 with the same problem. On 4/25 SA called me: they found fault codes stored referencing engine fan. Resolution: Reprogrammed with latest software. Haven't had any issues since, however it is too early to tell.

As part of the software update, the A.S.S memory update was overridden as well - Car is going back for that tomorrow.

There is definitely something going on with your car. I had limp mode at like 1500 miles and now I have 7000 and I flog it pretty hard and nothing since the program update. Now I have a new DME so we'll see going forward but you should definitely complain.

Done complaining--want a new car as I'm sick of bringing this in every month. And of course limp mode is dangerous in traffic!

I've now had this problem happen twice. Once at around 900 miles and once again at 1300 miles. Both times I was driving on the freeway in comfort mode for about 30 minutes and once I got off the freeway I switched to sport. That's when it happened! I brought it into the dealership both times. They changed the electric fan the first time and for the second they changed the fan and the relay. I told them I doubt it's a hardware issue, but they told me that corporate still thinks it's hardware. I hope this gets fixed but until they get some software engineers seriously working on this, who knows if it'll ever get resolved........

Well, 3000 miles and happened to me. Dec 2012 build, 6MT, and recent M power kit.

Driving all was good, then realized engine wouldn't go up past 2200 or so rpm. slowly crept and couldn't do much better than 45 mph, flooring it no power.

oddly enough could hear BOV pssssting extra hard in 2nd gear. no codes nothing. but sounds just like what everyone describes. got home, fan ran a few seconds.

just brought in my feb 2013 build 335 i in for same symptoms, no power on acceleration, and loud fan noise, restarted the car all was fine, no warning lights at all.
Both times this happened to me I was in manual mode, shifting up to 4th and literally no power at all.
Also asked them to check out the rattles from the dash, and to code the ass off, and the sport displays to english. Will see what they say.

This happened to me at 1,200 miles. It hasn't happened since and I am now at 2,300 miles (including a very long trip).

I planned on having it looked at after I order the PPK.

Had this happen to me about a month ago. When in for an early oil change I told the SR. When I picked up my car the SR said that he did not see any fault codes, he told me to monitor it and let him know if it happens again. Well it happend twice this week (once today). I recorded the Tach and the fan noise so I have some proof. I have an appointment set for mid-May. When I phoned in to make the service request the booking person said that they did not see any notes on the power loss in the initial service visit. I told them to talk to the original SR and to have the incident noted in the file as this is looking like a major issue and I want it fully documented. We'll see what they do. I love the car but driving it is scary when you cant count on excelleration.....

I have an 8AT M Sport and it has happened once for me around the 1200-1500 mile mark. I'm currently over 2300 miles so far and it hasn't happened again... yet. Fingers crossed.
