Brought my Wife down to audition my newly upgraded ICE which is BimmerTech amp on HK speakers and basic sub set up. It is a major mod that includes center channel cutout by removing whole dashboard. I now have a 16 speakers set up. With BimmerTech support advice, my rear parcel shelf HK speakers and rear door speakers are connected in parallel.
We went through a plethora of different songs and music and by the end we were singing along! It is a great buy and something I have been wanting to do for 2 years, only made possible by BimmerTech solution and full harness. Therefore those who have basic 6 speakers set up and willing to take the plunge, can really consider this. I am not done yet as Bavsound stage 1 and underseat ghost subwoofers are coming. |

The BimmerTech amp allows you to connect 12 speakers but I was halfway through my project of a full 16 speakers HK system but ran into trouble getting the HK harness and amp. After weighing all this and cost, I abandoned the HK conversion. This is what I have done to get 16 speakers. 1. Add HK tweeter in original door pods together with HK mids. 4 speakers. 2. Removed dashboard and open a hole to accommodate HK mid and tweeter with HK enclosure for oem look. 2 speakers. 3. Bought and installed full stereo harness from BimmerTech to connect to front NBT head unit. Bought original amp bracket from them too. 4. Made an opening on the original rear door tweeter location, bought original HK tweeter bracket and HK speaker covers. 4 speakers. 5. So total 12 speakers being powered by BimmerTech amp. 6. However, I have already bought a new HK ready parcel shelf with HK covers and the corresponding HK speakers and tweeters, so Bimmertech advice me to hook in parallel to the rear door speakers to power up my parcel shelf. As it is for rear fill, I am fine with this. This makes it a total of 16 speakers. Hope this is clearer. Again, I think I am unique here as BimmerTech amp is not for 16 Speakers setup. This is temporary for me as all the front and center HK speakers will be replaced with Bavsound stage 1 and the underseat subs with Bavsound ghost subs. |
