Retrofit the wireless charging spot?

I am seeing the new wireless charging station in the new(er) models.. anyone tried to retrofit this yet, or still too new?

I would LOVE to have a charging plate in my car.. that would rock!

I will definitely check that out but also it may be a F32 LCI thing too? It would be a cool feature to retrofit in, that is for sure. I could see, budget willing, doing a number of the LCI highlight features on my 14 435i.

Well first thing is to find out where it is placed in the LCI model. if possible, what a fantastic retrofit.

I*found that same charging "shelf" in realoem and they list cars with and without the expanded smartphone*feature, same part number.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...84#84102449887

I would love to figure out if this is possible.

I have been still trying to see if there is a way to make this work.. my local dealership(s) told me no, that the "wiring harness" is different.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=84_1040

I just wish there was a way to figure this out.. I am assuming this goes into that useless phone dock area under the arm rest.

Hi guys,

Newbie here but I think I have the video you're looking for :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRWR2Z9-d1A

I think the video is in Deutsch but still it is self explanatory.

Make sure you don't have an Iphone + phone as they are too big for that base. I placed an email to Aircharge, the maker of the BMW lightning case, for an adapter for the 6S + to that docking base. Will see what what they say.

Dan

Make sure you don't have a + sized phone as they don't work with that base.

Dan

thanks so much for the video redsectora!

i presume this is not a 2016+. i'm really curious if my 2017 340 has the wiring there to plug into as i don't have a mobile phone base. just the rubber mat there. looks like the wiring would only be made available in a car with a phone base.

redsectorA, i see you have a 340xi as well. are you going to be doing this any time soon?

What I read, is your car has to have the 6NSA (I think that is right) option installed.. the extended phone blah blah blah.. I have a 14 F32, and have that useless dock already there. It looks almost identical to that video so guessing I have the correct wiring there already.

Looks like $196 on ECSTuning..

yes looks applicable for older MYs but not new as 6NSA is not an available option or at least wasn't when i built my car. when i have a chance i'll take mine apart and see if that wiring is there. won't be for a few weeks. hopefully someone beats me to it!

Hi Monkeyboy,

I already have the wireless base since it came packaged with the car. Problem I'm having is that the docking base is not long enough for my iPhone 6S + (by about 5mm) , so I'm asked Aircharge (BMW iPhone case makers ) if they could create an iPhone + adapter that would work with their cases. I would get all the functionalities without having to change the wireless adapter. Worth a try

I'm confused... why are you asking the iPhone wireless case maker to create an OEM wireless dock just for the iPhone 6/7+? Does Aircharge make the dock as well?
