The ugliest thing about the new c class is the LCD screen. From outside the car, the monitor looks like a $20 LCD unit off eBay with those vents behind the screen.

The 328d is Europe's 320d, a 2 liter engine with 183hp. (Europe-style hp ratings, the US figures are slightly lower because of measurement methods). |

for me F30 just feels cheap inside. touch the door panels, back of the seat, shiny plastic all over. not a fan. does not feel like a solid car. only thing i like about it is 8AT. |

Too each their own...I don't necessarily consider the interior of the F30 "cheap" but if you're comparing it to the C-Class, it feels like BMW isn't really designing to keep up with the times. It doesn't feel or look outdated but it's the use of materials. The C-Class is using a lot of soft materials and add the contrast stitching, it makes the interior that much special. Now you dislike the fact that BMW uses shiny plastics, personally, that's what they should use if you're going to use plastic. If BMW used flat plastic, well you get an interior that would look like the Audi's interior...

I was hoping the 4 gran coupe was going to have enough sexy and fun to keep me in the franchise. But after driving one I was disappointed with the experience. Smooth, accelerates fast, but not toss-able, in a carve a corner way and it doesn't compare well to W205 interior wise.. We'll see, I ain't dissing BMW...It's been a good partner all these years. I just need me some new fun in between the sheets so to speak and BMW designs and what they emphasize in their latest cars leaves me somewhat lacking.

That Mercedes is ugly inside out...
I mean ... Ugly. Never liked their air vents, and that $10 made in China screen is just terrible. Don't care about shiny buttons on the door neither, too much contrast and looks kitschy. BMW decided to stick with a more sporty conservative style, and they succeed in keeping the sporty image. While I do appreciate the courage to try new designs, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, a car manufacturer should know when to stop and make sure that a specific car has the ability to define; Mercedes is not one of them lately... In the meantime, BMW should ditch that line on the hood and make this car look respectable... Last edited by Teutonic; 08-30-2014 at 12:18 AM.. |

I saw the new C class in person yesterday...its ugly imo
There is no doubt the interior materials feel a step up from the current 3 series though. BMW could step it up a bit on the interior materials.

The interior just seems like they tried too hard and gilded the lilly. I dont need the shiny buttons, seems a little too much. The shape of the vents and the cockpit in general seems...I dont know, disturbed? Its like the flow isnt smooth enough and Im sitting inside a low end flight simulator game. Could the BMW interior be better? sure. But while it could use a bit of a refresh, it at least has a more classic and timeless style to it with a good blend of modern accoutrements.

Look more closely and you'll find the screen in the Benz to be squared instead of tilted towards the driver. After a few hours it got really annoying. There's also that horrible non intuitive comand system.
The fake leather wrapped dash and door cards do look more expensive, gives it a leather look. BMW could have offered that for the luxury line with optional real leather like Individual already does. |

With a kid in college right now an M3/M4 not in the budget...I drove the new Merc yesterday and it was damn nice..Typical MB; vault solid, luxurious, top notch fit and finish and the steering in the w205 is much better than F30 imo Higher end lux, very good braking. Its not quite the driver the BMW is, but its close and its a very good package in its own right.. When the G9 transmission is added in a few months it will be on par with Audi/BMW on most fronts imo. I have less than a year to make my decision - but it will be fun deciding across the choices...This is a great generation of cars to choose from - all the way down to the Countryman S All4 which is a hoot to drive too!!

So I've heard! And I agree, it truly is a terrific time to be an automotive enthusiast! And although I will admit, I've been relatively brand loyal, it was primarily due to poor service experiences at Audi, and I have heard only great things about Merc's, though my only personal experience has been in my father I laws S400 Hybrid, and E350 coupe. Though both in Taiwan and absolute terrific inside and out! Though, for my particular age, and desires, this new M3 has surpassed all my expectations and then some. But with all the auto manufactures seemingly rolling out a new model on a yearly basis, I'd say the odds of finding something to your liking, BMW or otherwise, should become increasingly easier.
