Actually we're over 12 weeks and the car hasn't made shore yet.
Unusual?

The "golden rule", for standard delivery, seems to be the following:

German Build: 6-8 weeks
South Africa Build: 3-4 months

Seems like some German builds have taken up to 10 weeks though, and some SA builds have taken up to 6 months.

A production number or vin can be used to track the progress thru 800 number or the BMWUSA website.

Once your car is on the boat then only your vin can be used under Cargo ID.

Fee

PS Once your car is being "built" a vin is assigned call your CA.

Which dealer did you use?

You are the second person I know of in the greater new england area that ordered after me with production started/completed already and mine hasn't even started yet. I know it's based on dealer production allocation, but I'm obviously impatient

At what point in the process do you receive your Production number?

I ordered my car from the dealer last Tuesday 5/21. Got an email from my CA this morning saying that my car is scheduled for production in June. If he knows this, shouldn't he be passing on the production number? I guess I have trust issues because I won't feel comfortable that the car has truly been ordered and an allocation assigned until I have that number.

I'm in the exact same boat my friend, I'm seeing production in June. Ordered on 5/3, and am scheduled for june, but still in production status 111. Dealer definitely has a production number if order was placed in the system.

I emailed my CA and requested the number. He just sent it! I was able to create a profile on BMWUSA.com and can now see that my car is in "Order Documented" status!!

Finally, this is starting to feel real!!

You can be at the port from a few days to a few weeks. Prepare yourself.

Ha, didn't think I'd be on this thread again this soon. Vehicle just entered production with estimated 6/6 completion.

I had a 325i that was 6/7 production, made the ship by 6/18 and dealer on West Coast by 7/17. We'll see how this one goes and if the timeline is similar.
