So my quasi-new 328i got scraped in a parking lot..

Yes this is another 'sorry to hear about it' story.
I got this demo car with 3200miles on it during Xmas aka the end of last month. Odo currently reads 42xx
. Not completely new, but almost.

Last Sunday I was parking outside this Petsmart, watching a dumb vid on youtube in the car, and my rear bumper got backed into. I won't say it's heartbreaking, but quite a bummer.. well the silver lining is that happened when I was there and I got the other's insurance and everything.

Today the adjuster from the other insurance company came to see the damage, the fixing price estimate is $650. I'm planning to go back to my dealership, who's certified and also got a certified bodyshop.

So my question here, the appraiser said there's not gonna be a bumper replacement given the damage is pretty minor which I totally agree. But I wonder will it look exactly perfect after a 'certified' bodywork?(I know bumpers are there for being crashed into but..) I want a 100% since I'm no fault and it's, again, a new car.:

I've attached the pics, any help or advice is super appreciated. Anyone of you guys who experienced a certified bodywork, please offer your opinion on how they've done.
Peace! stay warm!

Doesn't look that bad at all. Most are scuff marks that'll probably buff right off. Worst case you're looking at respraying the bumper for the missing paint which you should definitely have done by a proper shop, and since you're doing that already I think you should be ok.

Dont go for a partial paint job. Get the entire bumper resprayed which will of course require labor to remove and re-install.

It'll come out perfect with a respray. The shop will probably want to pull it off regardless to inspect the bumper underneath.

Thanks dude, yes that's definitely not so bad. But you know the feeling that you'll only notice the scraped part when your car got messed up even a tiny little bit.. I'll see what the bodyshop guys say about it

Wow I didn't know that, I'll talk to them tomorrow at the dealer's store and figure out a solution which fit in the price range. That helps a lot!

Also, make sure nothing behind the bumper was damaged. There are some parts there meant to absorb/distribute shock and other thing a lings.

yea definitely, I hope there's nothing more to be concerned about since I do have the rear view camera/sensors and stuff equipped. Lucky me, it doesn't look like they got impacted..at least for now

yea I called my own insurance company and they said they estimate auto damage according to a generally used table or chart or something. I guess when it comes to a German machine with similar damage that's about the cost they approximate. Things happen.. hope we all get satisfied at the end of the day.

Okay it might be inappropriate for this thread. Just something I found out over the past month.

When I go over 70mph or so, my driver side window will make this high pitch whistle wind sound, which is def not loud but quite noticeable to me.
I'll go ask the service to have that fixed for me as well. What I've learned from the internet is they'll do it free for ya if mileage is under 20k.we'll see.

If that's all there is the detail folks your dealer uses can do an air spray touch up and you'll never know it happened.
