Winter tires or All-season in vancouver?

I'm about to pull the trigger on winter tires for my f32, but friends/family keep telling me I'm wasting my money, as it rarely snows in the lower mainland, and temperatures don't really dip below 0 all that often.

I'm curious what everyone else who lives in Vancouver runs in the winter.

I change to winter tires but I think they're ugly and have them on for as few months as possible.

So this would be just a separate set of tires from you summers? All-seasons are really 3 seasons and provide poorer performance in all seasons. If you are spending money on a second set, buy a set of performance winters and call it a day.

Summer tires lose performance at 7C and below not 0.

I switch to winters for a few months. Temps do go down below 7 for a while.

It depends on where you live but I have always preferred dedicated snows on separate wheels. But, I do definitely look for high performance snows versus studless because I want something that is good in the rain we get 99% of the time.

I was just thinking the same thing. I am probably going performance winter tires with decent/cheap replica rims.

Which wheels did you get, and from where?

I'm going to get custom wheels next spring to run with my summer tires, so I'm just mounting the blizzaks on my OEM 19" wheels. I got them from Coast 2 Coast wheels in langley. About $1170 tax in.

+1. Its about temperature and how the rubber reacts. A/S are harder than Winters and behave accordingly. Temperature. Everyone talks about snow and traction. AWD won't help you stop.

"AWD won't help"

I have xdrive and the difference is 60 ft on snow comparing winter and summer performance tire.

Does anybody know if any of the dealers here in Vancouver offer tire and wheel storage for the unused set? I am thinking specifically of Brian Jessel as that is closest to me.
