Phone Cradle to USB retrofit diagnosis and coding CIC/Combox in trunk
Hello Code Warriors!
A while back I lurked through the first 200 pages of this thread, and would like to thank all who have contributed to this wealth of information. I have since coded several features using the Bimmercode app, on my 2013 (manufacture date Dec. 10th, 2012) F30 with CIC HU, Combox in the trunk, and the following order options: No. Description 1CA SELECTION COP RELEVANT VEHICLES 2DW 17"ALLOY WHEELS STARSPOKE 393 2VB TYRE PRESSURE INDICATOR 205 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 319 INTEGRATED UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL 4AB FINE-WOOD TRIM BURR WALNUT 4DM HIGH.TRIM FIN. Unfortunately my car will not accept the more recent updates as BMW stopped supporting my car's configuration quite a while back. Software support for external devices: Multimedia: MX–003.005.004 Telephone: TX–003.005.008 Bluetooth SW Version: TX–003.005.008-003.004 Navigation version: NA BMW Group 112121.2.17 Road map North America Premium 2013–1A I use my phone running Waze for navigation, so never use BMW Nav. Because I have Premium Nav., enabling Apple Car Play is not an option. I recently replaced the phone cradle in the center armrest with the factory rubber mat, and bought the proper HSD cable and USB port from which I intend to route a cable through the consoles and out the vent that my phone mount sits in front of, eliminating the exposed cable running from the armrest port. Here is the problem I'm seeking help with.... I have the HSD cable and USB port connected, with my iPhone 6s plugged in, and the car recognizes it. My phone's name is displayed on the iDrive screen next to the appropriate external device symbol. iTunes album info and cover art are properly displayed, and I can control iTunes using the iDrive control knob. At first it recognized Spotify, and the BMW APP launched, displaying the Spotify APP in the iDrive menu, which when selected, displayed all the Spotify info and art, and allowed me to control with the knob. But, with my second attempt Spotify no longer works. The biggest problem is that music will only play from my phone's speakers, not the car's speakers, and there is no device corresponding to the car listed in the phone's connect device menus. Everything works as it should when the phone is connected through the USB port located in the armrest compartment. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...t=phone+cradle http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1108386 I found the above threads, one of which instructs to "Replace 6NH with 6NS in your VO and VO code NBT Nav.", which of course does not apply to my car given it is CIC. I'm considering the possibility that the HSD cable may be faulty, and am looking for a FAKRA to USB adapter to plug into the existing cable from the Combox to test, but haven't had any luck finding one yet. It seems likely to me that if the problem is a coding issue, the solution would be most easily found here, so I posted here first. I have my fingers crossed! Thank you in advance for any time and consideration you might afford towards helping to solve this problem. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. If it all gets sorted, I will post a proper tutorial for the benefit of others who may have the same or similar issues. Best regards, 4x Last edited by 4xdrift; 06-05-2018 at 10:17 PM.. |

As for Spotify on Combox / CIC equipped car and iPhone, I have no idea. I don't have either. In Combox, try FDL Coding the following: CMB_MEDIA => USB1_IPOD_AUDIO = BOTH CMB_MEDIA => USB2_IPOD_AUDIO = BOTH

...And we're back for the Victory Lap!
The "BOTH" values didn't solve the problem. Setting to BOTH blocked all audio to any speakers for both USB ports. However, after some trial and error with a couple restores, I was able to get all functioning properly by coding: CMB_MEDIA => USB1_IPOD_AUDIO = DIGITAL CMB_MEDIA => USB2_IPOD_AUDIO = ANALOG To: CMB_MEDIA => USB1_IPOD_AUDIO = DIGITAL CMB_MEDIA => USB2_IPOD_AUDIO = DIGITAL Turns out that the phone cradle audio is wired into the back of the CIC HU through an analog connection. By changing the value to DIGITAL, the unit started reading the digital audio through the USB connection, or... at least I think that is what occured?? Thanks again to Lieutenant General Code Whisperer Shawn for getting me pointed in the right direction, and to everybody who contributes! Last edited by 4xdrift; 06-06-2018 at 09:39 PM.. |

I knew it had to be these FDL COdes. "Both" should have allowed both Analog and Digital, so it is strange it didn't work and Digital did, but so long as it works, that is all that matters.

I wondered if anyone on here has managed to modify the codes in their car using a Macbook (OSX) and VMware Fusion installed with Windows 10?
After creating a shared "Esys" folder I managed to get the sw to open correctly but I'm struggling to get the sw to connect to the car. I think it might be related to the network sharing between my Macbook and the Windows 10 vm... |

And of course, car motor needs to be running, and E-Sys Connection window must be showing the Connection Targets.

Hi everyone, please help to understand right order of coding "angel eyes". F30 328i with xenon. What I have:
“A” – depends on light conditions: day – "angel eyes" as DRL front, bright; night - "angel eyes" as parking lights front and back, dimmed. “0” - "angel eyes" as DRL front, bright “parking lights” - "angel eyes" as parking lights front and back, dimmed. “low beam” - "angel eyes" as parking lights front and back, dimmed plus low beam xenon lights What I want: “A” – depends on light conditions: day – "angel eyes" as DRL front; bright, night - "angel eyes" as parking lights front and back, but bright as DRL. “0” - "angel eyes" as DRL front, bright (with option to turn it off in i-drive to no lights at all) “low beam” - "angel eyes" as parking lights front and back, bright as DRL plus low beam xenon lights Simply saying I want "angel eyes" bright with my low and hi beam in “A” and “low beam” mode. And if it’s possible have option to turn any lights off in “0” mode. I don’t want "angel eyes" in parking lights mode bright as DRL. What I found: VO Coding: • Option 8TM = (Front Only) Day Running Lights • Option 8TN = (Front) DRL's with IDrive Toggle • Option 8TL = Front & Rear DRL's FDL Coding (DRL_MODUS): • nicht_aktiv = 00 (DRL disabled) • drl_h = 01 (via highbeam, halogen U.S. without lights) • drl_l = 02 (via low beam) • drl_s = 03 (front & rear; U.S. Xenon/LED (rings + bottom)) • tfl_s = 04 (front & rear; ECE Xenon/LED (rings + bottom)) • tfl_ece = 05 (North Country Comfort) • drl_s_ohne_sl = 06 (US; ohne = without, SL = taillight) • tfl_s_ohne_sl = 07 (ECE; ohne = without, SL = taillight) FEM_BODY 3062 MAPPING_STANDL_V_L_PWM_LEVEL_1 FEM_BODY 3062 MAPPING_STANDL_V_R_PWM_LEVEL_1 If I get it right, I need to VO code 8TN instead 8TM (which blocks I need to code with this option)? How I should FDL code DRL_MODUS and FEM_BODY 3062 MAPPING_STANDL_V_L_PWM_LEVEL_1. And last one, is it possible to code rear fog lights on in reverse? |
