Yay!... I'm still stuck at port..

However my 4 Series is in for service and I got a sweet X4 to take for the week of Christmas as my dealer wants me to keep miles off of my car.

F31 M Sport. Opted not to do M Sport brakes due to backorder (booo!), thus it ended up taking about 9.5 weeks from order to delivery:

10/21 - Order placed
10/31 - Production started, estimated completion 11/11
11/07 - Body Shop
11/10 - Paint Shop
11/11 - Production completed
11/19 - Loaded on the Martorell
12/10 - Vessel passed through the Panama Canal
12/18 - Vessel arrived at Long Beach
12/19 - Vessel arrived at Port Hueneme, released
12/26 - Vehicle arrived at dealer
12/27 - Vehicle delivered

Timeline for uk ordered 4 gc 420d msport

My first post. Been browsing this forum for a few weeks now and cannot wait for my gc to arrive however my build time seems a lot longer that US bound cars and I did not order anything that would delay e.g. Msport brakes or leather dash. I ordered mid October and will not take delivery until mid feb!!

I have ordered in mineral grey, msport, sport auto gearbox, 19s along with black 405 18s for winter, tinted windows, hk sound system, twin exhaust pipes.

Will post pics on other thread once received.

My first BMW!!!

I was very excited when my car went into production early the other day. Today I called my CA and got the VIN. WBA3B3G55FNTXXXXX, a South Africa build!

I'm not worried about QC, but how long should I estimate shipping will take to a US port and then to the Great Lakes region?

2015-02-14 - Order Placed
2015-02-14 - Rcv'd Production #
2015-02-24 - Production Start / BMW Est Completion 2015-03-02
2015-02-26 - Rec’d VIN
2015-03-05 - Production Complete?

Good luck.

Good luck.
Everything I read about shipping from SA is bad. No one seems upset about QC issues, just that is takes forever.

I guess I have no recourse but to wait... sigh

Car is on track to complete production today!

I know tracking is for the most part the same regardless of where it's shipping from. In trying to estimate the shipping and finding which ships it might be on is difficult.
Does anyone have link on Order Tracking specifically from South Africa? All the threads I find seem pointed at Bremerhaven to the US. I'd like to be able to track port to port as I hyper-stalk my first Bimmer.

Here is my timeline as I can best estimate it;

2015-02-14 - Order Placed [start]
2015-02-14 - RCV'd Prod #/Est Start 2015-03-02
2015-02-24 - Production Start / BMW Est Completion 2015-03-02 [01]
2015-02-26 - Rec’d VIN WBA3B3G55FNXXXXX from CA
2015-02-27 - Body Shop
2015-02-28 - Paint Shop
2015-03-02? - Production Complete [02]
2015-03-03? - Transport to port (hopefully straight to US)
2015-03-07? - At Port/Waiting Carrier
2015-03-11? - Depart SA Port [03]
2015-04-10? - Arrival at US port
2015-04-11? - Cleared Customs
2015-04-12? - VCP (South Carolina?) [04]
2015-04-14? - Transport to Midwest
2015-04-20? - At Dealer [Finish]
2015-04-21? - Pick up

I like your timeline however, chances are not very good that your vehicle will transport to the port tomorrow. My car took 7 days to transport to the port after production was complete than it sat at the port for 10 days before it was assigned a vessel. Once assigned, it took 9 days to cross the Atlantic. It than did not arrive at the dealer for another 9 days. 3 days for the dealer to complete inspection and prep. Picking up the car tomorrow.

Good Luck.

Good Luck.
9 days sounds way better than what I've been finding in the forums. I have 30 days estimated for it to cross the Atlantic, fully expecting it to go up to the EU first. Did you happen to get the Shipping Vessil's name?

My car was on the vessel Freedom. It stopped at 1 port after it left Bremerhaven. It was scheduled to arrive in Baltimore 7 days after leaving Germany however it ending up taking 9 days. Rough seas, I guess.

That's why it was so quick, I was hoping it was from SA. I can't seem to find which ships go directly from Durban to USA. If there are any.

You can look at the 7th from the last digit on the VIN, if it's an "N", it came from Rosslyn.

No worries though, most German BMW's only take 10-12 days to cross the pond, so it is most likely from SA.

Ordered from the dealer on 1/30 and he placed the order on 2/5. Just got my VIN today - shows it finished production 3/5 and in 182 handover to carrier. It will go to NJ and my dealer says I'll have it by the end of this month. Hopefully most of the snow will be gone and it warms up here in Boston. It'll be tough to not put the top down all the time.

Do you know where it's coming from? If it's coming from South Africa you can check the TransNent site and see what vessel it was assigned. The link is;
http://41.160.4.58:8080/apex/f?p=102:11:0::NO

Mine says it has arrived at port according to TransNet, but the BMW line still says in Transport to Port of Exit. It's normally 24-48 hours behind. I'm just itching for a ship name so I can tell when it's getting to the States.

I'm not positive, but I think regensburg. The form my dealer sent said assigned to:E-10-26598. Once I see it leave I'll call the dealer to get the ship info and track it for sure.

Is anyone else at Port currently? Mine is in Bimmer Heaven, but I'm not sure when the next boat out to the West Coast will be. Anybody know how to find out when the next boat will be?
