Golf Clubs in Trunk...

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I find that the trunk on the new F30 is a bit smaller than I was expecting from a sedan. Not that I am complaining, having come from a coupe.

Anybody golf in this forum? How do you fit your clubs into the car? I first tried putting the clubs in straight forward, then straight sideways. Neither fit. I find myself stuffing the club in diagonally, and it is a tight fit. Its a workout trying to fit two in there.

Do you have the fold-down seats?

Mine's on order, but I would imagine if you fold down the seats and put them in straight forward they would fit with no problem, right?

You might want to try pulling the woods out.

I had to put them in diagonally after taking the driver out and laying it on top.

Seriously? That's a joke if you have to put them in on an angle....you'd get 2 bags in there, max. Weak.

Easy solution, but I usually carry my clubs in the car in case I have the need to release some rage at the range. Which seems to be more frequent as time goes on and as the traffic gets worse (40 mile commute one way). Don't want to drive everywhere with the seats folded down.

One of my previous cars, a G35 coupe, came with instructions on how to fit two full sized golf clubs into the trunk (and that trunk was tiny @ 7.8 cu ft). I used to laugh at the instructional sticker on the inside trunk, but it seems pretty clever now.

I cant imagine BMW didn't design the trunk with golf clubs in mind.

Am I missing something? Most people have complained the F30 got too big.. now people complain the trunk is too small? It's a still just a mid-size sport sedan, not an SUV or large sedan. My '99 328i was the same thing, I would put 2 or 3 golf bags in, but had to be diagonal and had to be careful. I can't imagine any 3 series ever had more room, in fact I'm pretty sure the F30 trunk is actually bigger than the E90 and E46.

The car and the trunk is bigger, to a fault for some, but I guess not big enough for others.

Seems they can't win....

this, I would think, would let you put them sideways. I never tried because they fit just fine diagonally, which would be an issue if you keep other things in your trunk, I never usually have much in there.

The only way my clubs fit in my F30 328i is sideways, same as my E46 325i. Some things never change.

The F30 gets points awarded in my world for not being able to carry golf clubs.

minus the driver all my clubs fit nicely...I normally have to take the driver out of bag but still fits in the trunk.

My CA told me that you can easily remove the covers for the bootlid hinges to increase the boot width. Haven't tried it myself as I am not a golfer. This may help

One bag fit sideways right underneath the lid opening in the e90. I'm assuming the F30 will be the same.

Multiple bags will usually require removing the drivers and laying them on top.
