BMW had a lot of interest since the xDrive versions announced. Given the fact we've just had another bucketload of snow (in March!) and with last summer being a washout I think it's getting more popular. BMW wouldn't have bothered introducing the xDrive range into the UK if they didn't believe there was a market for it. I can't speak for others but Audi and BMW offered top price for my A3 given the fact it was a Quattro. I also know a number of people who have either moved away from BMW or have chosen other vehicles simply because of the handling in poor weather conditions.

Yeah, fair point. Just different horses for different courses. If I was buying a car for the Mrs then I would definitely consider the drive. But since this will be my car and the Mrs won't be driving it as its stupid money to insure her on it, that's not something I need to consider.

And the Media does make a big Difference on cars like this especially newer ones getting 'traded' at early on. Certain options will be in the glasses book.. or to put it correctly the price will decrease if they arent on the car.
Yes you got the trade price for the car, one with Media etc would get a better value trade-in. Thats not a bad discount... but not that good either
Aye bigger discounts can be had for sure my e90 was the first of the 2006 m sports so not bad, but you won't find many 330d m sports pre reg I phoned loads limited build slots and with pre reg I would not get what I wanted on the car, have you not got an F30 know?

I was talking about a bigger discount on a F30/1.
It was a F31 tourer i had, no I don't i sold it a few weeks ago. There is few newish 330d's about, but to get your spec with vss & uprated brakes it will have to be a factory order id think.

There is of course a difference.....an Audi is by default FWD, and everyone knows FWD is wank. Quattro is marginally better so is more desireable.

BMW = Poor handling in winter conditions. I can't say I have ever thought that as being a true statement. Bad weather brings the worst out in all types of car. FWD is no different.

I guess it comes down to RWD requiring a level of skill to control.......sounds to me like Mr Average hasn't got a clue. Shame they can now own a BMW

the biggest problem to progress in the snow is the electronics taking control, even when switched off their still in the background

And that is mostly due to the tyres not having sufficient grip. Fit winter tyres and the electronics don't need to take control, only in the very worst of conditions.

The new auto gearbox on the F30/31 is miles better than the old one, it and the 6cyl diesel are a great combo.
Once the 4 series is here i will move back into it, probably March when Msport is released. Ideally 335d but supposedly its xdrive only, time will tell.

I was close to buying a TTRS plus...

Yeah they are underrated speed wise, with a map the TTRS (stronic) are sub 4sec 0-60 and sub 8sec to 100. The new M3 should be quite a car

Cool. When does it arrive mate?

TTRS would have been tempting, and indeed I have my eye on the 2 and 4 series next!

End of next month sometime, the M235i or M2 will be very tempting if they make one. The 4 is what ive been waiting on just want to see it in the flesh first.
The problem with the TT is thats its old tech now, and the new model cant be far away next year maybe.
