SPYSHOTS: Next gen 3-series (F30) test mule ?!

I don't get why BMW or any other car makers doesn't paint such test mules a flashy color and put on some aftermarket alloys. Then we all would be clueless and we could have a giggle.

Based on the new Z4, the CS concept and the 7 series, i can't wait to see what the new 3 series is going to be like - i'm saving already. I think the Z4 is a particularly good looking car and love the interior of it. I'd even think about buying one over a Boxster which previously i wouldn't have even considered. Small snipits of information like this just get me excited

Nice body styling!! If the wheelbase and track get any wider, it'll be a 5-Series. Hope Bavaria considers weight savings, and powerplant options carefully for the F30. This stuff gets me so excited, especially hearing about a FI I6 M3 replacing the current V8. Thanks for posting!! BMW FTW

I'm quite sure they've been tinkering with the F30 development even before the LCI.

From the mule, it looks like we're in for a longer and wider (and maybe heavier) 3er in the next decade. I believe the E90 is already close to E39 sizing...

I'm not even sure why they bother covering up the rear. It's an E90 trunk, not a F30 one, and we all know what an E90 looks like. In fact, it looks like the LCI trunk based on the shape of the recessed area for the license plate. The LCI trunk tail lights are wider than the original ones, and makes the recessed area slightly smaller, especially toward the top.

to re-iterate what Jason said, this is for chasis testing only, we're still too far away from catching a test mule with the re-designed body panels.

the 3 does get progressively bigger, E90 has pretty much the same interior dimensions as the last gen 5 series (E39)... so perhaps the F30 will have the same interior dimensions as the current 5er (E60)??
