Thumbs up My Mineral Gray 435i M Sport Journal

Hello everyone, I mainly lurk around here, and have for years (previously an E39 and E36 owner, so long time BFC member), but I've since upgraded a bit

I will update this with things I do to the car over time. I have a V1 and dash cam which need to install yet, and have some plans for it. Sorry in advance about the picture sizes, they will be all messed up until I find some time to go through them and resize or figure out how to get the URL for the medium sized images from wordpress!

It's fully optioned, I only left out the power rear sunshade, because.. well, come on

10/5/13 - Ordered

11/17/13 - Delivered

11/19/13 - First picture/s/ yay!

Totally bone stock, LOVE it.

11/22/13 - Sneaux Fall

12/17/13 - Snow Rims & Tires

Decided against fitting some winter tires on the 19″ stock wheels (for price and how long will they really last reasons), so purchased a set of “Alzor” brand (just a cheap replica from overseas) 18×8″ Style 030 Wheels from ECS Tuning for $400 bucks.

Since the wheels are 18×8, I went with four 235/45R-18 Michelin X-Ice Xi3 XL – slightly larger than the OE recommendation (~1%) but decided the extra width would help incase of any curb incidents. The tires fit great, I’ll get a picture of that eventually.

Narrower tires are actually better for driving in snow. Just thought you might want to know that for next time around.

Beautiful car though. Mineral Gray looks excellent on the 4er.

The recommended size is kind of embarrassing really, I didn't like how narrow the stock tire fit on the stock rim, at all, even in fair weather, let alone in winter when you've got curbs and ice chunks and random cars trying to smash into you regularly.

I do understand the whole 'thin tire' theory, but you can kind of tell between the first and last picture that, even increasing to a 235/45 from the recommended 225/45-18, isn't much of a 'stretch' (get it? lol), it barely gives me rim lip coverage with the size I've selected. Plus you've got to factor in long term usage, I hope these winter tire last for 3-4 years, not just a few seasons. If I kept the stockies on, the 'recommended' winter tire size had have been 225/40-19, which is like a rubber band IMO!

Park away from the commoners. 'Tis the season and I know parking spots are hard to come by but, you don't want some shmoe opening his door and dinging yours.

In conditions like this, you're better finding a wide spot in a row than parking out in the desert, reason being, people tend to forget how to drive when given a lot of space in a snowy parking lot. Would rather come out and maybe have an unavoidable and time-pending door ding than come out to a smashed up car

I'll take them soon! I was waiting to get the M performance trim inside before pics but I'll take some when I install the V1
