I got the MPPSK installed yesterday and really like the sound but I have a hard time noticing the difference between the Comfort/Eco Pro and Sport/Sport+ sound profile despite being sure there is a difference. My dealer told me that the exhaust will get louder after around 1500 miles so maybe the difference will increase over time also.

NO way...
Its a massive difference between Comfort and Sport/Sport+ If your not hearing a difference its broken, no programmed properly, etc. Its like Normal BMW vs Ferrari --- literally that much of a difference And yes it does get louder as you break it in... You should have a drone between 2 - 4k on the high way in Sport/Sport+ If you dont then for sure something is wrong. I heard the difference the moment the flap opened up... it takes about 3 minutes after setting it in sport and sport + for the valve to open.. Quote:

Go back to dealer and have them verify that MPPSK software was installed successfully. They should be able to provide a printout of the install report. Also, ask them to check that the flaps are opening when you switch to Sport. The difference in sound is very noticeable.

Does the flap open also in P and or N with the car running when you switch the modes with an immediate noise difference? Or only when driving. And is it opening immediately after entering Sport mode?

Start the car and immediately put it in Sport mode, the car is already loud because the waste gate is open on cold start and putting it in Sport will have no noticeable immediate effect. After thirty seconds or so the waste gate will close and quiet things down a bit, after about another minute the valves should open and you will definitely hear it. About once in every twenty cold starts the Valves won't open unless I give a little throttle input, again the difference is very noticeable. If this is not what you are experiencing take it back to the dealer as somethings not quite right. Good luck!

Ok I feel relatively stupid :-D When I got the car I configured Sport mode to only stiften steering but not adjust the drivetrain to test it but never switched the setting back. Apparently this caused the flaps not to open in Sport mode as the drivetrain is basically not adjusting.
I configured Sport mode now to adjust both the steering and engine. Now the flaps do open and my god it is amazing :-D And they stay open but after switching from Comfort to Sport I do have to step on the gas just mildly. |

I recently came back to BMW and picked up a 2017 340i M Sport in Alpine White a couple weeks ago and got the MPPSK installed this past Saturday. I have the same issue with vibration/resonance inside the cabin between 1500-2500 rpm in lower gears, as load is increased. I haven't had a chance to get under the car and see if it's rubbing on anything since I know the clearances are tight but figured I'd check and see if you found a solution to yours since my problem sounds similar. Worse comes to worst I'll just stop by the dealership and ask them to look at it but I guess I wanted to make sure that this isn't just a normal part of having the MPPSK. I'm ok with it being louder than the stock setup but like you said, it can get so bad inside the cabin that it takes away from everything and becomes an annoyance. |

I usually switch out of Sport+ if I'm driving at the lower RPMs now.

I don't think the vibration is normal, at least my car doesn't do it (any more). The dealer had to put it on the lift and adjust the exhaust pipe. This made a significant difference. I don't have any rattling, clanging, vibration, buzzing, etc. It's just pure exhaust sound.

This is a known issue with MPPSK where the exhaust pipe is mis-aligned during instalation. Take it back to dealer and have them make it right. I've not heard of anyone needing two trips to dealer for resolution, my guess is you're just the "lucky" one.

I will be on the 3 trips... they kept thinking it was the seat.. now I see all this talk about the exhaust.. now I am convinced its the exhaust. PS - living with the rattle (on and off - mostly off and why so long) for almost a year

I wonder if someone who's had the fix done could post a picture of where they had the contact between the exhaust and the car body? Might be of help to those still having problems.

I like the comfort mode sound actually, sounds like a cow haha.
Sport mode I don't like the drone. Most of the time I used comfort engine setting |

Just as an update, I did end up taking the car back to the dealer and they did a slight adjustment on the exhaust. He said it was making a little bit of contact with the heat shield. Made a big difference though. I still get some minor vibrations at certain RPMs under certain load but it's usually only if it's in a higher gear and start accelerating....a quick downshift gets rid of the problem though. I guess that's just part of having an exhaust with no resonators anymore. I can live with it though, the car sounds better and better as I put more miles on the MPPSK
