Intake IMO is worth it
I'm trying to get a quote for the quad diffuser from ltbmw and see if i can get hooked up for the gt haus quads right now but no response from ltbmw through PM =( I have a serious case of the mod bug.. only owned the car for 3 weeks and already dropped so much cash ahhhhh.. before the exhaust going with the m performance from lip =)

Are there any other intakes available besides this one?
And some people say this adds HP, some say it doesn't. What is the verdict? |

Most power gains made by aftermarket intakes are due to the change in airflow over the MAF-tricking the ECU into thinking there's a little less air in the motor than there really is, and causing the motor to run a little leaner than stock The biggest change you'll see, correction, hear will be the engine sound-much more turbo noise coming from up front |

Definitely going to look into that, but it seems expensive for $200.. still might get, they also have a chargepipe... http://www.burgertuning.com/chargepipe_N55_BMW.html That's another $300 right there.. I don't know if there are performance gains with that though, it seems like if you tune your car though and you have more boost you should have one. They got a lot of stuff |

Reason I don't think it'll fit is because the F30's N55 turbo to airbox intake run's across the front of the motor, not the back like the pictures show (as in the N55 in the E90's does) and there's no drop-down to select a different version
I'd call BMS before making the order Hard charge pipes are totally something to do for reliability if you're going to be tuning the engine to put out more boost - but again, I don't think the same charge pipes that fit the E90 N55's will work in an F30 - the motor packaging is just too different |

I think the sound of a car is a huge chunk of the joy in driving a car. Yeah it probably dosent add any HP, may even decrese with the added heat...and yes millions of people put intakes of civics and focuses to make them sound "cool" but thats besides the point. Its ok to put something on the car that enhances the sound and asthetic appeal of an amazing engine/car. the only person really enjoying it is yourself out on the open road.

Waiting patiently too..
Although I want a intake too, it was interesting to see the article I saw in the 328I engine forum area...They put a exhaust, DP, and intake on a 328, and after they put the intake on, the HP went down by 1. So I also wonder if a intake is even worth it...I saw other people post that adding a intake won't make a difference, but I am not sure exactly.. |

Has anyone noticed heat soak with the injen intake? I'm thinking of going with the wrinkle black to lessen heat soak. This would be giving injen a 3rd chance.
I've had an injen CAI on a vq35 and vq37. On the 35, the dyno showed negative results, I lost hp and torque compared to stock. I'm guessing Injen can claim their added HP, because of a couple spikes along the graph. On the 37, I need to go back to stock during summer because of heat soak. The tubing gets really hot in the engine bay and the idle is really rough at stand still. Luckilly I never had to pay for the intakes. This would be my first time buying an injen, but $255 shipped is hard to pass up. |

Intakes like Injen's usually don't make any power. The only one i half seen make power is BMS's and that's on older cars. The F30 intake is so well designed I am not sure there would be any gains.

Really curious about this intake. Wish someone can give some solid facts about it.
