Battery discharging, and blower not working
I just picked up this 2013 335i msport from private sale. It has 61k miles on it. Previous owner says he never had an issue but when I got the car home, i started getting "battery discharged while off" warning. It has been about 0 degrees for days. At one point it was completely dead. After I jumped it and got it going, now the blower doesnt work for ac/heat. I do not know if they are connected but that is when it happened. I noticed when i turned the car off and lock everything up, the push button to start stays lit. Not sure where to begin. Anyone had similar issues?

Or not. The symptoms are those of a battery that's not adequately charged, which may be due to the battery needing replacement, but at 0F more likely indicates the need to use a battery maintainer, as explained in great depth in all the other threads on the subject.
Also, the blower won't push much air if the climate system is set to auto until the car warms up. It knows enough not to waste energy blowing cold air. |

The car will automatically disable high current users (the heater blower for one) to protect the battery when the charge state of the battery is low (which is magnified in very cold temps). I had the same problem on one of my past bmws that had an older battery that was at the end of its useful life. Once I replaced the battery, problem went away regardless of how cold it got. I would definitely have the battery checked or replaced.

We don't even get the option in the UK. Surely if you have a low battery condition, the auxiliary heater (if you have one) won't function the same way, if consumers are being shut down? |

As an aside, I took note that it took 3-4 minutes for warm air to come from the vents and heat to come from the seats when the temp was 1 degree F here. It never seemed to take more nor less time in these temps and I'm quite satisfied with that. (-5 to +10 F) 6 minutes plus just to get heat out of my Cadillac XTS seats and that was when the ambient temperature was 15-20 F!
