Those are the two biggest things that BMW fanboys talk about endlessly here. The Merc is a few years old and the F30 isnt even here yet. Which car would you expect to be better? Quote:

I think this new 3-series is approaching the sport/luxury balance I look for in a luxury brand sport sedan. Can't wait to see what they look like in person. |

Overall, I am liking the new 3er. Only thing I am worried about is the steering feel and response from the new electric steering.

But as an example of fanboism, the recent Autospies review video was the most shameless POS I've seen in a while. And yet, 95% of the replies to that video are overwhelmingly positive. Why? Because most people here want to believe that the new car will be awesome, and that stupid video echoes what people want to hear. To me, that is real fanboism. P.S. I also think that the C class looks better on the outside than either the E90 or the F30. The interior used to be its weakness, but they REALLY fixed that issue now, and I'd say the interior is ALSO better looking than that of the E90 or the F30. There. |

[QUOTE=Leaker;10942245][QUOTE=Propagator;10939294]I'm not THAT familiar with Autocar's taste, but based on the fact that they picked the C class over the E90 previously, I would guess that they care more about the overall package than which car feels more "connected" (i.e. C

Not bashing, but I never found the rear of the C-Class to be attractive. I don't even know if I've seen a refreshed version in the flesh so I can't comment on that. However, what I can tell you is that I thought the E90 was horrendous until they came out with the LCI. E92 looks good in both pre and post LCI, but not the E90. I also never liked the interior of the Merc. I know that they've changed it, and I haven't been in a new one yet. I did last year drive an A4 which had a beautiful interior though and was a really nice looking car as well.

Let's say the Merc is handsome in a conservative way, the 3 is more contemporary looking... The Merc would look way better with the CLS design IMO...

I get teased for driving a "house wifes" car. I would say 95% (up here)are driven by housewives or sub 30 yr old men.I've never seen a woman driving a B7S4...some drive the B8.

BMW attracts offensive, but very good drivers.
MB attracts defensive, but very good drivers. Audi attracts former BMW and MB owners who want to try something new, but not too different. Then there are M owners, like myself, who think everyone else is rediculous for debating the virtues of 3 vs C vs A. Thanks for reading... carry on! |

I stayed within the BMW family when I had to sell my '07 E92 Sport a week ago. But not being sure that I care for the new F30 front and a weird new way of allowed options or that navi that just sits there like an after thought, I got a 535. I like the C350 but the headroom was cramped and I did not like the new headlight treatment of the A4. It's OK fellas if everyone is not in love with a piece of metal you think of as art. We don't have to turn into a douche to discuss it.

BMW and MB provide very different feels. Before I purchased the C300, I test drove 328i, Infiniti G25, and new Audi A4. Compared with C300, 328i is better on handling, acceleration, and braking. But C300 is quieter and seemingly runs smoother. In addition, it provides a nice and luxury feel (somebody calls that boring though) and it is great for my daily commute. After a long day, I prefer to be in a relaxing mode, not in a sporty feel. People on the forum can continue to argue how great the look of F30 will be, but from the photos I think I will prefer C-class. But don't get me wrong. I like BMW and I do enjoy my X5 a lot on weekends. I just think that it is funny that a lot of people here treat other brands like shits. After all, C class still outsold 3 series (but this is not to say that the new F30 won't turn the course). This past month, Diamler AG sold 28,255 units in the USA. Of those, 8,358 were C classes. During the same period, the BMW group sold 26,271 units. Of those, 7,568 were 3 series. |
